Default Wallace and Gromit statue coming

Bristol to honour Wallace and Gromit with statue

Quote:
Fans of Wallace and Gromit could soon be able to gaze on giant replicas of their animated heroes, if plans to erect a statue of the pair get the go-ahead.

The Oscar-winning duo's place of origin, Bristol, wants to hold a civic reception - complete with Wallace's favourite Wensleydale cheese - and arrange for a bronze or marble statue marking the success of Aardman Animation of Bristol, creators of the films featuring the cardigan-wearing Wallace and his dogged companion.

I think that a 'gromit' is the rubber ring you put in the hole inside your kitchen cabinet, a kind of rubber seal ring thing that the pipe goes through to pass from one cabinet partitian to the next but I can't seem to get much on google or a dictionary definition.

Try 'Grommet'.

Medically, a grommet is a small tubule inserted into the tympanic membrane to allow fluid to drain from the middle ear.

Colloquially, a grommet is a young surfer.

Not just to seal, but also often used to protect the material passing through the grommet, and/or the material in which the grommet is inserted, even if a seal isn't needed for gas or fluid containment.

Smashing!

For those not familiar, Wallace and Gromit are the stars of three animated short films and a full length film. Wallace is a wacky inventor and Gromit is his dog (who spends his time reading such books as "Electronics for Dogs"). In their first film, they built a rocket and went to the moon to get some cheese.

You might have guessed, I'm a big fan.

Anyone who hasn't seen Wallace and Gromit is really missing something.

I think it should be made out of cheese, and as such, would have to be nibbled & replaced quite frequently

Are they a spinoff from Chicken Run? Wasn't Wallace the henchman for the crabby old woman that owned the chicken farm?

I liked that one, as well as Wallace & Gromit.

T'uther way round if anything (been a while since I saw Chicken Run though).
Wallace & Gromit came first
Havn't seen Were-Rabbit yet but my favorite so far is The Wrong Trousers (it's got model trains you see!).

While I didn't think they deserved the Oscar (Corpse Bride was a technically superior film), Curse of the Were-Rabbit was definitely one of the most entertaining movies I saw all last year.

Chicken Run is by Aardman, the makers of Wallance and Gromit but otherwise they are related only in as much as Toy Story and Monsters Inc. are (Both computer animation by Pixar and Disney.)

I, being a huge fan, have all three works (A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave) and their feature film, Curse of the WereRabbit, proudly in my DVD collection.

I must confess I haven't seen Curse of the WereRabbit yet, though it's definitely on my list.
