On this thread Celestial Mechanic gives a succinct explanation as to why this idea is flawed. The reason why a physics professor gets to propose this is beyond me...

It'd only make the CO2 levels higher because of all the hard breathing afterwards.

And imagine if 1 in 10 farted during the jump. 60 million farts all at once. What would the CT's come up with on that?
