Default What to do with tapes?

Pretty much anything that was once on tape in now available on DVD. What does one do with all the tapes now? Just throw them in the bin? Shouldn't there be some kind of system of reclamation for all that plastic?

I have all of DS9 on tape and I figure that the entire series in those boxes of DVDs would take up less than one season did on tape.

DVDs are great.

there is a good website

http://www.freecycle.org/

where you give stuff away(it should be called freebay really).
You join up for your local area and then see if anyone wants your stuff(for free) and see if anyone else is giving away something you might want.
I bet someone would want your old DS9 tapes

You beat me to it Frogmarch!
I'll second what he said though. I'm a member of Freecycle London & also a local group & I see many VHS tapes being given away successfully. Only last week a complete 5 box set of the B5 series went like a shot

I've sold them at garage sales and they go really fast. Also I've taken them to our local Half Price Books or some local charity.

BTW Freecycle messages can often be a source of amusement, here's one that just came in that's apropos for this board:

"Hello,
I am looking for a space suit in good working order - would be happy with either US or Soviet badging, as both designs work fine if they have been well looked after.
I will need this quite soon, as I am setting off on the weekend."

Setting off for where one wonders?!
Have Spacesuit Will Travel...
