Which means any savings in wing mass will be lost when they have to install the crash carts on commercial jets after some codger has a coronary watching the wings do the lambada in turbulence.

Back before ailerons were invented, "wing warping" was used to help control aircraft (the Fokker Eindecker comes to mind, along with the Wright Flyer). Apparently someone has brought old technology to the present.
