My experiences with English fast food.

A Burger King in London....

The meat was so undercooked, the bun was bloody.

Mmmmmmmm, TASTY!

Surely Haggis can't be any worse....oh wait. <URP> Nevermind.

Actualy I quite like haggis, I had some last night for my tea, to mark Burns Night. It was one I got from the farmer's market in Newcastle, although it had a plastic wrapping with MacSweens on it Usually I get mine from a Scottish Meats butcher on Grainger Market

Haggis is Scottish for a start. Surely this isn't the old England is Britain thing again.

Ah, but have you ever tried whisky?

Can't stand Burns myself, and no fan of haggis either. But I do love a nice malt whisky.

According to Hamish and Dougal

Burns night is something the English do, they had to look it up in a Dictionary

The vegetarian haggises I've tried all taste very much like the real thing - very tasty indeed. My problem with the real thing is I can't help but think about what I'm eating.

There was a question about kilts - although not addressed to me, I'll give my answer anyway as I'm a Scottish highlander. As one learned in our history, and aware of their true history and the true significance of clan tartans, I assidiously eschewed them right up until my cousins wedding a couple of years ago, and since then have worn one at every wedding, etc, I've been to. Extremely comfortable. At my own wedding, I was perpetually photographed by and with Japanese tourists who happened to be at the hotel, and I found a group of Germans looking in through the windows to observe our reception. I invited them in.

The Highland clearances are a very complicated issue. Most of the people, though, were cleared to the coast and remained in the Highlands.
