Default So We Have A Serial Rapist Working My Neighborhood.

(I keep having to edit out expletives I keep putting it)

Some scum of earth has been targeting the little latin women walking to work in the early AM. At least five times in the last 6 weeks. Maybe higher 'cause some of the victims won't report it due to immigration status. Last attack was last Thursday. Some woman was opening a store and he pushed in behind her. Was unsuccessful because she clocked him with a counter display and cut him above the eye.

So now everybody is looking for a short Mexican man in a brown leather jacket with a cut over his eye. (His victims say he's Mexican from his speech pattern. I'll take their word on it.) A lot of people I know have stopped wearing their brown leather jackets, its that bad. But the scumbag keeps wearing his so it might be his only jacket.

This SOB has some truely dangerous people looking for him. He'd best be found by the cops first. I'm talking about people that will get seriously medieval on him and then feed him alive to fighting dogs. The only reason I don't want these people to find him first is then we'll never know he was caught.

And, it sucks to be Julia.

Wrong attitude to adopt. Surrendering to fear is the worst thing you can do, you're as much one of his victims as a woman he attacks in that event. There are a lot of things you can do to mitigate risks.

And this isn't just me preaching here, this goes for guys worried about being mugged (a guy I knew ended up dead during a robbery a couple miles from my place).

In any event, do stay safe, and hopefully they find this guy or what's left of him.

Boo takes after my side of the family. And they both have my height. Their mother is tiny (4'10") and had a Basque father, English mother. The very first time I saw Boo's mother I told my friend Ben, "I'm going to go dance with that little Mexican girl over there" and the rest was history.

Yeah my son is half white (me) and half mexican (his mom)
CUTE KID!
Ask and ill gladly and proudly show a picture

As far as SAFETY GOES
Doodler is right. you cannot live in fear- But DONT let yourself get caught in a dangerous situation.
Some of it is basic sense but SOME things may seem odd...

For example:
if attacked throw the BIGGEST LOUDEST FIT you can! an attacker wants a low profile and little attention. they are MUCH more likely to beat feet than to try to silence you.

BigDon- got any NASA Approved Pepper Spray?

If you take off and the attacker claims a threat to shoot _DO NOT STOP!
Assuming he IS armed its Very Difficult to hit a moving target. My time in the Army - i Hate to admit it but its quite true... (side note: A Hairy experience back in California where a car hijacker pointed a pistol at me while i was driving. He had been laying in the back seat and sat up armed and ready after i pulled out of the parking lot. I Ignored his threats and HIT THE GAS down a deserted but windy Road that fortunately was near- he couldnt SHOOT me because that meant the car would crash- after some truly scary turns at 90 mph- he agreed to back off the pistol if i would agree to slow down to a barely lethal 30 mph. i did- he opened the back door and bailed. i bailed too)

if attacked Do ANYTHING you can to Fight Back- ANYTHING and fight HARD. an attacker prefers a quiescent and cooperative victim to one that may cause Noticable and incriminating injuries.

Claim you have AIDS - you might be surprised...

No brainers:
Walk in well lit areas and dont go alone. Keep a cell handy.

If alone in an area where you feel you may be vulnerable stick to Corners and walls- experience i wont mention has given me the habit of always sitting or standing in corners all the time...

Always check your vehicle before entry.

If you have a Key Opened lock (no button pusher) on your car -position yourself sideways with your back to the rear of the vehicl after you have looked inside- you can see behind you using the rearview mirror on the driver side- and you can see anyone comming from your left side or front. DO NOT keep your back pointed outward as you unlock your car.

If someone comes up behind you and wraps their arm around your neck:
You can break the hold (if he wrapped his RIGHT arm) by reaching up with your right hand and and placing your thumb on the inside -below his thumb and above the wrist- rest of your hand applying pressure to the Pinky side of his hand. Twist OUTWARD and pull DOWN. - One option at this point is to DUCK down- slide under his arm while still holding your grip and then pplace your Left hand just above his elbow and apply a SHARP downward pressure. will bring a giant to his knees.

Another option is to simultaniously Throw your head back during that manuaver into his face. Ouch. then turn OUT of the grip you released and RUN.

Practice on your dad - THATS the fun part

ETA: these were long and i dont feel like going through correcting typoes and such. Learn to speak Gibberish

Got any story links? Can't google any such stories in SF papers (Chron, Bay Guardian), other than the Castro area boys who should be on the look-out for a rapist who targets males.

I used to carry a cane when I lived in San Francisco. Muggers avoid people who have long sticks in their hands.

Here's a heavy duty kind made for cattlemen.

http://www.sheepman.com/ecommerce/ec...e=cat&catid=34

I've got several of these now. You can get these from cattle supply companies up in Marin County or where ever there are cattle and feed stores.

You can imbed a sharpened nail in the bottom of it and use it for poking. Let the nail stick out a little below the bottom of the cane but try not to get it hooked in rugs or allow it to slide on a slick floor. Glueing a rubber bumper or crutch tip to the bottom will help with that, then the tip can be pulled off quickly when you need the nail as a weapon.

Learn to protect yourself. The police in San Francisco won't protect you.

Yeah, do not fear it , but be ready at all times. And dont place yourselves on places that you're vulnerable. Stay with lit places , and for me I feel safe when there are many people I see in the place im threading.

And for cars, yes, be sure to check all the doors , they should be closed and locked at all times.

And keep a pepper spray handy .

Don't you need a license for pepper spray?
