I was driving from New York to the Continental Airlines Arena today and the second I crossed the border, it smelt terrible.
I heard how it smelt bad in some spots, but it was way worse than I expected. It actually burns your nose! For anyone that doesn't absolutely have to go to New Jersey (we're talking life/death situations) try to avoid it.

Gag. Remember the John Carpenter movie Escape from New York where Manhattan was transformed into America's maximum security prison? Maybe it's simply time to turn New Jersey into the nation's landfill. Garden State to Garbage State.

They call it the garden state as a way of marketing the green glow.

Actually, there are some very nice parts of Jersey - the Pine Barrens, the area around the Delaware Water Gap. Don't judge the whole state by the worst part.

Most New Jerseyans don't exactly like that part of New Jersey, either. I only ever see it when I have to go to Newark airport.

It's funny how everyone just assumes that the entire state looks like that just from driving down one or two major highways. It's like saying that all of New York State is the "armpit of America" after looking at the landfills on Staten Island, or judging the entire state of New Hampshire just by what you can see from the Piscataqua bridge. They're not exactly representative of the entire state.

Well, if New Jersey is the armpit, then the "Golden Triangle" of Beaumont, Orange, and Port Arthur Texas along with the Houston Ship Channel is quite a bit 'farther south,' literally.

It's a small island off the UK. If I remember correctly goods imported to the UK from Jersey don't have to pay VAT so it thrives off being a shipping point for many uk-based companies.

That and the cows of course.
