Saturday, I biked to the library located on the other side of town. There was a strong Santana winds condition going against me. As I left the library, expecting the strong Santana winds to now help me home, were gone. Instead, there was an almost equally strong sea breeze now working against me.
Today, I biked to Best Buy, hoping to beat the storm that is approaching. Right when I arrived home(within one minute), it started to rain heavily. What luck, good or bad, have you had recently?

Santa Ana wind is like the daily cyclical winds at a lot of coasts and edges of deserts: they go one way while the sun is warming the Earth's surface up, and go the other way while the surface is cooling down. They're a result of different kinds of surface having different temperature change rates. So reversing direction in a fraction of a day is to be expected.

Actually, the Santa Ana winds aren't going this time of year, unless they're unusual conditions. (And it is two words.)

Overhere, we also often had to drive against the wind both in the morning and the afternoon. I live at something like 20 km from the shore, maybe it has something to do with it.
Bad luck: Commodore died 1 day after I bought it. Good luck: found an incomplete replacement for sale in my street, that hopefully will result in a working Commodore again. Good luck: found very nice supertweeters for my speakers. Possible bad luck: new commodore will also die soon or will not fit the other parts required to make a complete commodore out of it. Bad: need to go to the dentist today. No luck involved .

Ain't nothing like the Black Sabbath storm front we get here occasionally, usually accompanied by Kid Rock lightning and a Delaney & Bonnie downpour.

Yes, but when the wind is blowing with you, instead of against, it is truely Nirvana . Of course that Kid Rock lightning of which you speak is sometimes mistaken to be a Foo Fighter . Or something.

Those shifty Santana winds gave an extra workout to RalofTyr's Little Feat.

bad luck: blower fan for the furnace would run only a few seconds then stop.
good luck: it was a nice warm couple of days so we didn't freeze more good luck: the phone rang it was Able Heating and Cooling service guy calling to confirm his next appointment. bad luck: we were not his next appointment, he dialed the wrong number and i had not called anyone for service yet. then the Gods smiled: Able asked me what was wrong with my furnace, i told him and he suggested replacing the start/run capacitor. which i did the next day and the furnace has worked fine since. I still mutter little thank yous when ever I think of this. Last edited by Glutomoto; 24-February-2007 at 05:05 AM. Reason: spelling |
