What hooked me into astronomy?
My dad bought a telescope for my mom.
She almost never had the opportunity to use it...

Forty plus years ago there were two bright
satellites you could read your newspaper by.
Well almost! I would look up predictions in
the Daily Telegraph for the times of transit
overhead. Echo 1 and Echo 2. And the sky was
dark at night even in an urban area.

I got some children's science books when I was four, and one of them contained a very large poster that had the different sizes and classes of stars. Betelguese was the largest known, back then, and absolutely fascinated me.

I'm not really hooked yet. Anyone know a cool book i could read? I like things like black holes and really high numbers :P
