Inspired by this post (onward), what would you like your personal theme to be? That is, the song/piece from which snippets of music are played whenever you "enter the room".
While you're thinking about that, you can also pick your action and love themes. I'll be back in a bit with my own picks, once I've settled on something decent that doesn't involve clowns or mimes.

"Crazy," by Patsy Cline?
No, no. That's rude of me. "Crazy," by Seal? No, that's not it, either. Give me a bit. (Actually, on a serious note, I've always felt a line from Sting's "When We Dance" suited me--"And underneath the wheels of passion/I keep the faith in my fashion.")

I'm leaning towards "I'm Still Standing" - Elton John with possibly Lemon Demon's Ultimate Showdown (of Ultimate Destiny) for the action scenes. Just the right mix of stoic futility and zany chaos that has been my life over the past ten years or so.

Action - "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer", the Thorogood version.
Love - I'll have to draw some inspiration from Doodler and make a similar choice, "Double Team", Tenacious D. Or "Sweet Little Angel" BB King.

The theme music for the Avengers (For soirées) or The theme from Stingray (for my daytime appointments)

Mine must be "All Along the Watchtower", because I keep hearing it all the time lately. It's almost like it's coming from outside me, somewhere around me... I think I'll have to track down its source sometime soon...

Right off the top of my head, the theme from Secret Agent. Not the original, but a cover done in the 80's by the White Animals.

Simple.
On days where things are going well, the opening of Mahler's Third: ![]() On other days that are more typical and life is trying to beat you into a pulp, the opening of Mahler's Ninth: ![]() Then there are those times where one is ready to throw in the towel, in which case the last 27 measures of the Ninth work just fine: ![]() But then there are times where things are exceptional, like scaling another 14,000 footer, getting through to someone in production management that taking care of quality means just about everything else will take care of itself, or observing a new comet. For those, the coda of Part I (Kräftig. Entschieden) of Mahler's Third does the trick. The liner notes, IIRC, for the Rafael Kubelik DGG recording back in 1966 nailed this music, "Part One of this hymn to Nature ends with a wonderful, clear vision of the stars and the Universe.": ![]() It's an amazing thing for someone who grew up with the Toscanini Top Forty rammed down his throat (including Respighi presented as a major composer(!)) to see a symphony orchestra in Huntsville, Alabama, schedule Mahler's Third as the grand finale to their concert season. What a fantastic way to celebrate a year of music making. It's good to be alive as Mahler's foresight proves true. There's a bit of Mahlerian irony there as that article is from forty years ago. That's within a decade or two of the same time span between the article and when Mahler was prevented from writing any more music. But, as one senses without sensing while listening to the Third, time is a relative thing, and, when great art is afoot, an hour seems as a minute.
