A doctor friend once told me the secret to health is "everything in moderation, including moderation.*
I have to admit that I am glad to have lived long enough to learn that most of the things supposedly bad for you are actually good for you again: Rehabilitated commestibles to date:eggs
salt
peanut butter
red meat
chocolate
wine
beer
whiskey
fruity coctails (see above)
*This post relates to the "I hurt myself post" but deserves its own attention for the sake of positive reinforcement of moderate enjoyment of life (which, in moderation, includes the occasional excess).
--I bring this up, because this weekend I too enjoyed myself in a manner I have not since I was in my 20's. The moral: after a weekend at the track (Keeneland - lost my shirt), the casino (almost won big, but lost on a STUPID bet), and the links (avoided gambling, because my dollar to swing ratio is too low) and all the associated beverages that go along with a Bachelor Party Weekend, I feel that sleepy sense of satisfaction that so makes me want to leave work early...
