Stab Proof Knife.
I don't actually have any problems with the article or the invention, just this last line from the inventor: Quote:

What percentage of knife wounds are stabs vs slashes? I think "stab-proof" and "ineffective as a weapon" is false advertisement although that may just be the reporter's flurishment.

Well, stabs are the dangerous types of wounds, as you get the organs involved in the party. Slashes obviously *can* be dangerous, but usually are less sever. I don't see why I couldn't stab and slash with that knife though. It doesn't have a point, but it's still a relatively thin metal blade. Might take a little more force, but doesn't seem like it would be any unreasonable amount to still get it to penetrate. I see where the "notch" might keep the clothes from tearing, I guess impeding the puncture-process.
Where's Mythbusters when you need 'em?

Wouldn't you think most accidental injures involving kitchen knives are cut fingers, which this design wouldn't alleviate at all?

The majority, yes. But again, the most serious injuries are from accidental stabbings. For instance, I went to school with a girl who fell on top of the open dish-washer drawer, and came out quite punctured. Serious injury, but she recovered.

I can definitely see how that design could reduce an accidental stab injury. I can also see where bouncing off that rounded tip and onto the back of the sharpened edge right at the tip might make a ripping, jagged wound.
The idea that it would be safer if someone were to grab it out of a drawer and use it in an attack is laughable. You can't stab anyone with a meat cleaver or marble rolling pin either.

Oh, yeah. Looking at that, I can think of all sorts of ways to hurt someone (or yourself) with one. And anyway, rounded knives are hardly a new concept. According to legend, Cardinal Richelieu demanded them at his dinner parties.

'Surprise' prostate result probed. That could benefit from some better choice of words, IMHO.

I'm either in that kind of mood today, or the reporters are just getting more puzzling. (I'll accept "both" as an answer too).

I noticed one the other day while I was playing "Guitar Hero: World Tour" - actually, I guess I noticed it a while ago but I never thought to post it before now.
If you change your difficulty level within a playlist, you are given a message that says, "Your difficulty level has been permanently set to <whatever> until you change it."

Well, there is a scenario where that would make sense. The cruise ship actually went on a voyage to rescue a woman who was missing in the jungle of Guatemala. But they failed to find her, and returned without completing the mission. Although somehow I doubt that is what happened...

Duh. But then she would have been found woman.

I don't know what you mean. If they didn't find her, she'd still be missing, wouldn't she? Suppose that an expedition went to look for Tarzan, but failed to find him, and returned home empty-handed. Couldn't you say "Expedition returns without missing boy"?

Maybe what they meant is there was some guy on board who went on the cruise without his spouse, and he had soo much fun that he never missed his wife. So when they returned, they did so without him missing the woman?
Makes perfect sense.
