Default How many countries could violate this FIFA ban?

FIFA bans high altitude contests.

The article lists the four countries protesting the ban. The U.S. could hold matches in Leadville, Colorado, that would violate this ban. I don't think Canada has an established town at that altitude.

How about Europe? How many countries could play a home match higher that the ban's altitude?

I don't think any European countries could - all the cities are much closer to sea level. Heck, are any cities (defined as grouping of humanity with large enough population to support a 50,000 seat stadium) are even at 5000 feet?

The U.S. couldn't draw 50,000 people to any soccer match. . .well, maybe in the coastal cities in the southwest. . .

But I was thinking of established towns that have sufficient nearby flat areas that could hold a decent soccer pitch. There are some pretty good size cities in Colorado close to the limit.

Surely Austria and Switzerland could--probably Italy and France, too.

That's a shame too. Even though I played High School football, futbol is the only sport I watch anymore.
