Some cool physics videos I thought I'd share. Enjoy
Cool Computer Program (Altered Reality) Cool Computer Program (Drafting / Interaction) Rube Goldberg Device Bouncy Balls (This is cool) Doctor Quantum (Double / Single Slit Experiment) Invisible Water Effect |

The first video turns out to be the second part of a technology demonstration. The computer can generate a 3-D object, such as a car, that can interact in real-time with actual objects existing in our world. Here's the first part -and it has sound: Augmented Reality It's a good demonstration.
Admittedly the first two are actually "Computer physics" videos, an area I'm interested in. I'm not sure if "Rube Goldberg Device" is the actual name for the marble maze things in the third video, but I thought it was fun. Again, perhaps not physics entirely. It appealed to the part of me that's about to get to teach a kid about the world (6 weeks and counting). The "bouncy balls" video starts off slowly, but is very well done. Stick with it until they dump the garbage can full of superballs. The "Doctor Quantum" video is an animated explanation of the mysterious "observed electron" and wave/particle duality that many are familiar with. I thought it was a good short program. The last, is of course, just weird. Last edited by DyerWolf; 08-August-2007 at 08:10 PM. Reason: Making another pitch for the superball video... |

I enjoyed the short cel-animated Dr. Quantum clip, though I thought it got a bit new-agey at the end. I immediately thought that by observing, you are bouncing back and forth photons from the source, which could interfere with the particle. Kinda like spraying water at something as it is running by, in a way. By not observing it, that wave/particle interference isn't encountered by the electron, allowing it to do its thing.

The Dr. Quantum vid is from that crap movie What the Bleep do We Know. It's no wonder it will look new-agy.
