It's harder to get these days, but I do like sudafed. It doesn't stop the nose from running, but it can make it a bit more manageable. If you're willing to put up with the "rebound effect" there are also the 12 hour nasal sprays, but I'd probably not recommend it.

I could know how you might feel. I had a bad case of Dengue Fever when I was 13 years old. I had to stay in hospital for a week constantly be given Intravenous liquids and have my blood checked 2 times a day (And guess what...the nurse was a newbie and kept missing the veins). I was very close to be taken to the ICU unit and get a blood transfusion. Some actually died from this disease as I heard. It was miserable to say the least. and BTW - GET WELL SOON ![]()

I can sympathize with the stuffiness. Heck, I can empathize. I fought off a severe sinus infection last year that turned the crud in my nose to the consistency of some harder plastics...
I swear, some of that stuff coming loose I could actually hear it breaking like dry wood. I'd get a head rush when I was finally cleared up because of all the fresh air hitting the inside of my head.

A cold will fizzle on its own in a week. But you pick and stick to your favorite cold "remedy", I promise it'll vanish in only seven days.
Tinaa, what empathy and commiseration I have are yours for the week. I ask only that you return them topped up and in the same good condition they're in now.

Thanks Tinaa, the cold and stuffy nose is a common thing today, yesterday my sister, name Jyoti, said when I talked to her on phone, and just ask that what she is applying in the cold conditions, Jyoti replied that in cold conditions she always use "pepper soup",(hot), tamarind +milk (hot), ginger soup(hot),
I asked her why this is so!, she said the properties of these things is so hot for the body and hence especially one can apply it. And making soup is very easy just boil the water and adds the peppers into it filter it and serve. Tamarind is also the best in cold especially at before sleeping time, it also gives a "relax to throat", and it also enhance the "color tone of the body” in prolong use, (one can look like "gold"). I am not joking ![]() Sunil Deshpande |

And rightly so. Health care workers are the last people you want becoming contagious and spreading hideous diseases!
I really hope you feel better soon, Tinaa. It's no fun feeling rotten, especially if you have to keep plugging away at your normal routine rather than retreating to your bed.

I'm still pretty miserable - but functioning. My house is a total wreck. Laundry piled up, dishes in the sink, yard about 8 inches high, and no decent food in the house. I got the laundry started, husband is mowing and offered to do the dishes. I'm off the the grocery store in a bit.
I think I may make it through this.

Truly saying here that I have not seen the bed rest of sickness in last 20 years, no fever, no typhoid, no malaria etc, no headache, because I do regular meditation for half an hour, eat limited, sleeping well, drinking sufficient water, bathing with cold water round the year even in winter. I use bath for 2 times daily, before sleeping and early in the morning. Hence no cold problem, no nose problem. I start my morning by joining hands to sun very first then only I start my day. My doctor bill is zero in last 20 years. Sunil |
