I'm not sure which forum to post this in.
Post your favorite mathematical or physics-related equation. You may use these, provided by 01101001 in another thread. Quote:

There was a thread about that, I believe. ![]()

((ACP + SCP/4)/YM) + 15% = GFW
Where: ACP = accountable cigar purchases - these are the purchases that your wife knows about in full such as purchases you made in her presence, ones with a credit card trail, etc. SCP = secret cigar purchases - these are the purchases that you manage to sneak in under her dollar sensing radar. Cash only, no bags, she never sees them enter the domicile - you know the drill. YM = years married GFW = Gifts for Wife required to offset total cigar purchases and thereby maintain marital bliss

Okay...in seriousness, since I have a history as an avionics repair technician, I'd have to say one of my favorites would be Ohm's Law and it's variations.

How about the Navier-Stokes equations?

They'd revoke my degree if I didn't choose Maxwell's Equations.

I'm a bit of a fundamentalist.
I can't decide between: 0 + 1 = 1 + 0 and 1 + 0 = 0 + 1

I like the formulas for a line integral, among others. In terms of importance, however, I might pick Taylor's formula first. I'm a simpleton.

Quote:
The rate of change of something in a control volume = fluxes of something in and out of that volume + sources or sinks of something. Fluxes can be advection or diffusion. And that's it, that's the basis of the Navier-Stokes equation which is a conservation of linear momentum in Newtonian fluids. But, the overriding conservation equation works with anything: Non-Newtonian fluids, solids, and the conserved quantity can be a lot of different things: mass, both linear and angular momentum, energy, electric charge. Maxwell's equations can be written in conservation form, too. Conservation looks like a pretty simple statement, but it is an exceptionally powerful tool for solving problems and analyzing situations. And, despite what the perpetual motion machine makers think, there isn't away around it -- at least not in the universe we inhabit. |

Oops!
![]() Well, I suppose my fave would have to be E=mc^2.
