I already voted, but I don't think it's fair to vote more than once.

What?! That's a perversion of the democratic processes! I hope Mak doesn't find out about this!

(BTW, I voted - Bad Astronomy currently has a plurality, but not a majority. Go, BA!)

Climate Audit is in second place but seems to be closing the gap rapidly.

BA leads by about 400 votes; Climate Audit is currently second; Pharyngula is third.
The love train chugs on.

Any response?

I think quite a lot of people just click on new posts to see what's up rather than go to specific forums.

Update: BA Blog: Vote! Best Science Blog 2007

Quote:
PZ Myers just endorsed me for Best Science Blog 2007. So did Deltoid.

Of course, the reason they are doing so is that I am the front runner, with Climate Audit close behind. It looks like the opposing forces in the epic battle for the reality of science are consolidating.
[...]
Where do you stand? Apparently the Weblog Award site is very slow. But keep trying; I am marginally ahead of the others right now!
BA is roughly 200 votes ahead. (Final results will be announced November 8, 2007.)

Internet voting is always cheesy. It's fine for things like polls and such, but when it is for something like this it's impossible to fully eliminate cheating.

Meanwhile, the website seems to be down...

Bad Astronomy: 19160

Let the recounts begin!

Edit, 30 minutes later: poll is still closed, but numbers moved slightly:

Just checked a couple minutes ago:

Bad Astronomy: 20,681
Climate Audit: 20,635

Good lord, that's close. If that count stands, you can bet there will be some howling on CA in the morning!

As of now: Bad Astronomy: 20,681
Climate Audit: 20,634
Are they finished "recounting"? I don't know. Maybe someone who knows more about computers could tell me how you recount. I naively assumed that a computer at "weblogawards" would keep a running total of the votes and know the winner at 5 PM EST, when the polls closed. I am glad that BA won (if the recounts are over), but I am also curious about the process.

I went back to the Weblog Awards site to look for info on the method and rational for the recount. The site mentioned having to "certify" the tally. It also says,

Quote:
RESULTS ARE NOT FINAL UNTIL WINNERS ARE ANNOUNCED! Each poll is checked during the voting and after polls close for excessive voting from individual machines. If excess voting is found it is noted and the votes are removed.
Maybe that's it, or maybe not.

<chuckle>

I see other prizes too...

I visited climate audit. It seems we have some good sports here. He also added a link to the BA Blog on his website. He said he had never heard of the BA blog til this voting.

Similarily, he says the other runners may not be getting the recognition they deserve.

This little poll has opened up a few doors in the Battle against Ignorance

So I would say that we all get a prize...
