Thanks for that Sarongsong. News like that is hard to come by in the Canuck "bush", unless one's a specialist.
Like Rattle/Bernstein & reminds people of young Abbado/ Mehta? introduced by Maazel? Well, he can't be all bad then . Could be worth going to LA from the Bay area in March, but will there be tickets?
Was "brought up" on Barbirolli & the Halle in his prime in uk, & 78's of Toscanini. Still don't think Arturo takes Beethoven's 7th too fast, would be a treat to hear Dudamel with it.

The music tix may be hard to get, but if you do get them and need to get back to SFO afterwards, Southwest Airlines often offers $39 one-way flights back and forth, that time of year.

Let's face it, he has a great first name.

His flexibility with the NYPO seems to indicate a positive attribute for winning over orchestras. Trade the minor stuff for their acceptance of your major stuff re interpretation.

Great news re the up-tempo reading for the finale of the Prokofiev Fifth. This is some really acerbic, sarcastic music that needs to go fast and light. The description indicates that's what he was after and got.

Scores; in this context, American slang for "obtains", especially for something highly prized or desired.
"SFO" is San Francisco International Airport, the "Bay area" toejam plans to visit in March of 2008.
Southwest Airlines flies between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
$39 is a bargain airfare they offer two or three times per year---regular price is $125 for the ~500 mile trip.

Thank you sarongsong.
It is really sad when you read a whole thread and feel utterly left out......

Mea culpa; I'm sure you could confuse us with some of your local slang, too!
