Every time one of you Ohioans links a local channel, it's like a time machine. Seeing Leon Bibb and all. I expect to see Virgil Dominic, or maybe Tom Field next. Voiceovers by Ernie Anderson, of course.

Looking at some of the other videos there explains why burn units are usually in childrens hospitals... and they think it's funny, even afterwards.

Actually it looked to me like he expected his first drop to the snow to put out the fire, then when it didn't his thinking focused on getting the trousers off and as you do that standing up, he got up, at which time real panic set in and thinking stopped completely.

It looked to me like he just tripped and fell to his knees. He got up so fast that I don't think the thought process was there.

Teen Built Pipe Bomb That Killed Him, Police Say

Okay, it's not funny when someone gets hurt... ...wait, yes it is. Call me cold, but I have little sympathy for idiots.

Not the most creative Dawin Award contender, but gets bonus points for the Looney-Toon style exit.

Not just a wannabe, but an actual nominee. I know it's an old thread, but the Darwin 2007 thread is coming close to a close.

If they said no one else was involved, then why go further and say this?

This video has probably been discussed elsewhere on this board, but what the heck. One of these guys will be a Darwin Award winner - or else the first Moon Base commander.

Destined to be a classic:

I haven't seen it... But; it seems like a common thing...theres lots of similar videos that I see.

One of them ended with "don't try this at home" was performed by very young teens. So, I'd like to ask them, "why did you try it?"

Yes; PG-13 for sex and violence...not language (bare butt and fireworks)

At least they slowed down the response, I'm sure we could include language if we sped it up.

In light of which, perhaps we owe them our thanks. Because of their unselfish actions, the human race is bettered.

Maybe a statue is in order?

Perhaps, but I would worry about where they would be holding the torch.

I hesitate to nominate, because of the cliché nature of his attempt. I mean, a homebrew bomber blowing himself up with his unstable homebrewed bomb? What did he expect? That's like going quail hunting with Cheney and expecting to leave without at least a fleshwound. (Timely political jokes are my specialty, no?)

Isn't that what the award is for?

Perhaps some thing more tangible would be nice, maybe a Damien Hirst project with suspended fragments inside perspex.....
