After having pretested and hung the outdoor Christmas lights this afternoon, I still spent an hour replacing globes.There must be a relationship between the number of bad globes and any number of variables.

Direct:

The number of globes on the set and the age of the set...

Indirect:

The windchill factor at the time of hanging or the amount of 'help' from enthusiastic children

Tenuous:

The angst coeficient of local environmentalists re increased carbon emission or the concern factor re scattered light from local astrophotographers.

Any assistance in the formulation of this new theory would no doubt rate a share in a Nobel prize.

I found a solution a couple years ago--throw the darn things away and get LED Christmas lights!

But put them high--mine were stolen within a week. Now I notice a neighbor has the same kind, wonder where he got them....
