It happened 25 years ago today (time flies!), at Maple Leaf Gardens. Needless to say, it wasn't their last.

"But we`re too old to rock and roll every night" ... In an encore the 37-year-old Daltrey sang "All a young man has is rock and roll." Well, as Pete has said, there comes an end to the time when you can still act like a kid on stage when you`re pushing 40. And all these young men had ever had was rock and roll and they were looking back down that long, and often dirty road.
After the show there was the usual scene of chaos with the privileged jostling to get near their idols. Daltrey said to me: "It`s great to go out on top. We did just that tonight." ...

I remember watching it on tv, as City-tv carried it live in Toronto (not sure about nationally). I didn't manage to get to either of the MLG shows, but I did make it to the concert at Exhibition stadium, a couple of months earlier. At that show, I felt sorry for Joe Jackson who opened for them. Within 30-45 minutes he had a pile of garbage at his feet and was booed off. My only gripe with Jackson (I like his music), was that awful slow, ballad/jazz version of "Is She Really Going Out With Him", ick! The Who did put on one heck of a live show and I was glad to have seen them live then, only thing better would have been seeing them with Keith Moon on drums.
