Default What I want for Christmas

Local store had a sale on a Meade Altazamath Retractor telescope, with computer control.

I am still trying to visualize this instrument.

Hard time visualizing it? Heck, this time of year my telescope retracts every time I go out to view the night sky. I'm not fond of Midwestern winters.

Whatever you get, just don't open it early!

From my mother, I got exactly what I was expecting, mostly. I got T Is for Trespass--but it's a signed copy, which means Sue Grafton did a book signing in Pasadena some time in the last two weeks. I also got a toy rocket set from some friends, complete with tiny Apollo capsule, shuttle, Mars Rover, and Soyuz.

Sweet! I ask my mother for stuff like that, but she says I'm too old.

Here's what I tried:
"Mum, can I buy this model space shuttle?"
"You're too old to play with toys, Kai."
"It's not a toy, it's a model."
"That's not a model."
"Well, yeah, if it was a real fancy one, I couldn't separate the boosters and the external tank and stuff."
"You can't buy it and that's final."
