Default RIP Oscar Peterson

The jazz legend has passed away.

Quote:
The jazz odyssey is over for Oscar Peterson: the Canadian known globally as one of the most spectacularly talented musicians ever to play jazz piano has died at age 82. ... Over the years, his recording and performing partners included such stars as Charlie Parker, Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Nat King Cole and Stan Getz. ...
Story

My university diploma does carry his signature, from his tenure as honarary chancellor and IIRC, he was also heading a jazz studies program at York, prior to his stroke, as well.

Very sad, I only saw him live once many years ago... very very good!

The Maharajah could rip off some riffs on the ebonies/ivories that were, well, you had to hear them. How any piano survived his playing it is something that is still unknown. But I'm sure the piano still had lots of self-esteem in the morning.

Sweet and cool.

RIP.
