In response to this post.

I do not agree.
If you read landedeagle's posts, you will realize that he was not really interested in a discussion.

The first response to landedeagle was not very nice, I admit.
But his unwillingness to support his claims (with replies like "go back and read my previous posts") and his general attitude towards his critics, did not help.

EDIT to fix typo.

r_w has made this accusation before, and I have pointed out that I am not a Creationist, Moon Hoax Believer, and any number of other things.

On the HAARP thread he accused me of being a conspiracy theorist, and consistently quoted me out of context by creatively snippping my comments.

Below he does the same to landedeagle. Reading the text before and after the quote puts landedeagle's comments in a totally different light, however.

The BA has offered his opinion that landedeagle is a troll, although he chose not to elaborate on why he believed this to be the case.

In my opinion russ_watters is a liar and a cheat, and I think the above bears me out!

Well, I'm only going to comment on what happened yesterday, and you've got to admit, Soup, that characterizing LE's use of the word "astronogers" as a typo does ignore the fact that LE used the same spelling 3 times in a single post (as I pointed out.)

No...it's obvious that your interests focus on "fringe" science...did someone say otherwise?

edited to add...after reading frogesque's post, I, too decided to allow you the opportunity to change that last "bit" and not quote it...

I stand by my opinion. Feel free to quote it. It is entirely justified.

What is your point? Please try to be more specific. You are making unfounded generalisations. Also, please try to quote me correctly. The above quote is missing something.

Do you really think that Philosophy is a fringe subject?

Others have got away with more. Just look at r_w's attitude and approach to the thread in question.

R.A.F. Please answer my question, and correct my quote.

As I have said, The BA has offered an opinion in regard to Landedeagle. I have justified my opinion in regard to a certain other individual, whose attitude is unbeffitting of this BB!

Philosophy not, Von Däniken and Sitchin are. It's the kind of posts you make in that thread and many others that have given you the reputation of jumping on anything ATM and fringy. But apparently we shouldn't say 'anything', so I'll say that you jump on most things ATM and fringy.

I have made minor contributions to those threads. I have little time for either of the names you mention. You are misrepresenting me to suggest that I have.

Emphasis mine. Soupdragon2, now that you're still here, what's that supposed to mean? What quote of yours needs correcting? The quote R.A.F. made in that post is exactly what you had posted.

Also, R.A.F is pre-empting and baiting the BA by suggesting that I will inevitably be banned! I wonder what the BA will have to say about this, regardless of whether or not he sees fit to ban me.

I strongly suggest that R.A.F calms down and reflects on what he is saying.

Hmm... In the UK (as any UK poster should well know) use of 'Un-Parliamentary Language' is frowned upon probably more so than in the US. It's considered a Loss of Priveledge issue and I do ask again that it be retracted.

Oh that first quote, where he left out the part between brackets...
When you post such a thing like you did right after a post by the 'offender' with a quote from yours, it gives the impression that there's something wrong with that quote. Apparently it was an older one. I don't see the problem with it, but I guess you think this another case of someone misrepresenting you :-s

What? When did you last see a live broadcast from the House of Commons? Get real!

BTW, no offence to you, but I refuse to retract my opinion on the basis that I have justified it, and I believe it to be justified.
Edit: grammar

I'm as calm as can be...Frogesque and I asked that you might change the part of your post where you called another poster a name (he's still asking) and you've refused. How am "I" baiting the BA...it seems like you are the one who doesn't want to be a member of this board any longer. That's all I have to say on this subject...

My red - 'Another case'! Are you insinuating that I am paranoid? I am only aware of you and r_w misrpresenting me, although R.A.F quoted me incorrectly. But I wouldn't call the latter deliberate misrepresentation, just an error which should nontheless be corrected.

Everyone.

This thread is supposed to be about banned posters. Please take your discussion to PMs or e-mail.

Save the victim routine, please, its not the first time someone has been notified that they've probably stepped across the line.

Landedeagle's banning had squat to do with Electric Cosmos, if that were the case, he'd have been gone within a post or two on the subject. As I followed, it continued for nearly four pages before his attitude went too far, particularly refusing to answer questions while playing accuser of the opposite to those who challenged his view.

He was banned for trolling, not his beliefs. If ATM beliefs were the basis for banning, soup, neither you nor I would still be posting here. I've made some stands that took the "orthodoxy" on and you do on a much more regular basis, but we're both still here.

No, it doesn't. It shows that russ_watters has vagrantly violated the FAQ for rude behavior. For that, I banned him. After 2500+ posts, he should have known better.

Calling someone here a liar without proper evidence is also a banning offense. The evidence presented here is not good enough in my opinion. The result is another banning.

Next, landedeagle was clearly a troll. This was not some fuzzy, borderline case. I did not feel the need to justify this. His behavior was clearly intended to pick a fight.

Next, TravisM, do not even insinuate someone is a sock puppet in a thread. If you suspect it, PM me.

Finally, R.A.F., do not even insinuate someone will get banned. That is behavior unlikely to result in a happy ending for anyone, and does not induce a rational frame of mind. I'm glad you came back and apologized before I noticed all this happening in this thread. I've banned enough regulars for today.

I refer everyone to this post I made. It's still as true two years later as it was when I wrote it.

BA, your link is faulty. I guess you are referring to the banning of JS Princeton?
And I think it is sad that things got out of hand, especially on this thread, but they both had it coming, I guess.

EDIT: link is allright, has been fixed while I was posting 8)
