I think starting a new one was a good idea to keep track of who was banned on the new BB. I also think that keeping this one around may help the moderators (especially those from UT who may not be aware of the original behavior that led to their banning at BABB).

True. But it looks as if the new 'banned users' are coming in this thread as well (mainly because the new thread was hijacked by PO, aka WS). Oh well, we'll see how it goes, with some luck we won't need either of the threads (the chance of this being a self fulfilling prophecy is sadly nil).

I don't get why banned people are allowed to post. It even says banned under their name.

They're not allowed to post any more. But their old posts remain in the system, with the title banned, so you can see they've been kicked off the board.

Slightly OT, but banquo's_bumble_puppy, shouldn't you update your avatar to the latest photo of that butte?

Otherwise, you might start getting fan mail from Hoagland.

Well, there's like three threads with virtually the same names floating around, and all three have been hijacked for various reasons.

I'm thinking about creating a thread (preferably to be stickied by either of our fearless admin) called "BAUT BANNED posters log" with the same basic setup as the old BABB one.

Starting fresh is a good idea to minimize confusion if we can avoid getting chatty in that thread. It might also be a good idea to have the other three threads locked to funnel any new bannings to the clean thread.

Thoughts? (Fraser? BA? Would you be on board for that?)

Has anyone let JSPrinceton and Russ_watters know about the amnesty?

There was a very funny man on the UT forums called carlosncarlos who kept claiming that Einstein's theories were "pure crap". He got quite insulting so we banned him over there.

I kinda hope so, I'd like to debate him. The thing is, outside of his "scrum" with dgruss23, I usually was in his "corner." I miss JS and feel he has a lot to offer, but he has to tone it down if he comes back. Being smart is one thing, obnoxious arrogance because of that diminishes the positives IMO.

Someone somewhere asked if he had been notified, but I have no idea. I would like to meet the myth that is JS Princeton.

He existed all right. His downfall was his arrogance/lack of patience. He didn't educate so much as dictate, which was a shame ..his intellect/education was first-rate IMO.

LOL!

And what an educational tool to ensure others stay within the guidelines. Consider posting it as a sticky.

I remember him, but I was only a flit (love that word coined by "a cool poster" for me) around the BABB board. Oh yeah, I still am a flit poster, and I'M BACK!

He did all right for a while, but he seemed to run out of patience after a while and so got banned. It was unfortunate, but I don't think the BA had any reasonable alternatives.
