I've had neither. Hope never to have.

Makes sense, from what I can tell, though the duct is somewhat larger, the stones are as well, and generally you don't "pass" gall stones, when they become a problem, its slice and dice time. That's just got to be the short straw, to get both! ouch.

I'm gonna have to dig around and find out what causes gall stones. I'm doing what I can to keep the kidney stones at bay, last thing I need is something else that's as bad slipping in while I'm not paying attention! ;-)

My case. I´ve been spared, so far.

A friend of mine has it in form of powder; not coalesced into stones.

My sympathies to anyone who has suffered through a kidney stone. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. So everyone, please stay hydrated.

I woke up at 4 AM on my 40th birthday with a kidney stone. I sometimes joke that this is proof that there is a God and that he has a sick sense of humor. By 6AM, I was in the emergency room of the hospital walking in tiny circles because the pain was so bad that I couldn't sit or even stand still.

A few years later, I developed a herniated disk in my neck. Once the doctor figured it out, he asked me to estimate the pain from 1-10. When I replied "9", he asked "Only a 9?" To which I replied, "I once had a kidney stone."

BTW: Painkillers worked wonders on the kidney stone, but didn't do much for my neck problem. So, the kidney stone qualifies as my worst acute pain, while the herniated disk qualifies as my worst long-term pain (several weeks).

I wonder if a "better" comparison is to the pain of an ectopic pregnancy. I treated one patient with this, when I was an EMT, and she was in a lot of pain.
member of the club too and yeh i think it is the same pain as an ectopic pregnancy had that too so now you know the pain!
my grandmother had them regular and she drank lemon juice watered down of course in the morning and it reduced them the doctor was impressed by this method i do the same now and i havent had pain since!
