10-minute pesto fetuccini. I didn't feel like making more than one pot dirty.

Looks lovely, especially with the fresh tomatoes.

I had 15 minute pasta too, because I came home late.
Mine had tomato puree, chili, finely chopped sundried tomatoes and crushed pine nuts. Like red pesto, just homemade. Add parmesan and you're set!

Spaghetti with chili-tomato sauce are a staple food for me...

Heh, no kidding. If rice didn't exist I could eat pasta almost every day. As it is I have to alternate between the two.

Incidently, here's my pesto recipe:

Olive oil
Fresh grated parmasean
Dried basil
Chopped garlic (in oil)
Salt
"Salad booster" - it's supposed to have pine nuts but I didn't have any. Instead I had this, which consists of chopped almonds and some various seeds (flax, pumpkin, etc.)

Take a handful of the "salad booster" and toast it up in some olive oil until the almonds are brown. Pour that out into a cup, add a big heaping spoonful of basil, about the same amount of parmasean, a teaspoon of the garlic, and some salt. Add more olive oil until the consistency is right. I usually end up with about 50mL which is enough for one big serving. Sometimes I also add chopped sundried tomatos, but this time I used fresh ones.

Mix into a plate of noodles. Eat. Simple.

Default Mugger's Stew

Yam-ama fruit stew. It's the normal meat and potatoes stew, but with fruits (orange and apple wedges, a banana) and some yams thrown in for variety.

Yet another result of scrounging the kitchen for goodies that look like they may head south any day now and throwing them into a pot for good use before they do.

And like the title says, since it's 100% my own "a little of this and that" creation, I get to name it!

More importantly - how is that beer? I don't believe I've heard of it.

I think I had it a few times when in Northern Germany. It's pretty typical of the pilsners they produce over there. light and bubbly.

The Berliner Kindl is a pretty nondescript brew. Decent and drinkable but not a life-changing experience. I actually prefer Potsdamer Rex Pils from the same brewery but it's harder to find, here in Potsdam... Figure that out. I usually drink Köstritzer Schwarzbier or Breznak (Czech) but I like to rotate my beer supply around so I don't get bored.

tonight was a sub from a local sandwich shop. Veggie Delight: avocado, hummus, sprouts and the usual tomatoes, onions, olives....

Tonight: grilled ribeyes, yellow squash - ccoked in unsalted butter and scalloped potatoes. Got to talking and the steaks turned out well done instead of medium.

Not my proudest cooking moment. The dogs didn't mind too much though.

Just rice & eggs, which is usually breakfast food for me but whatever. Had to use up the last of my perishable food supply since I'm off to Indonesia for four weeks tomorrow.

...And this time I'm not forgetting a container of cream cheese in the fridge like when I went away last Christmas. Good god that was horrible.

The Geology department put on a "welcome to UT" dinner tonight. Mexican BBQ: Brisket on a tortilla. Or Fajitas. Pretty good.

Me and the g/f just threw a burger on the grill and shared a serving of microwave fries. Burger was great, fries were...well, microwave fries.

I was still hungry afterward, and I wanted nachos and cheese but we didn't have any, and I couldn't convince my g/f that it was time for a shopping trip. Instead I melted some feta cheese over wheat crackers and topped with kalamata olives. It was good...but I still want nachos and cheese!

tomato besan (besan is a thick paste of the pulses) is a popular dish here normally served in the kitchen especially at the night along with warm khichdee(made of 50% rice+ 50% pulses green or yellow pulses) + warm oil with asaphoitoda powder. This dish is very famous in my area.

This is not a sweet dish, this is a salty+chilly powder added dish.

I had some vegetable biryani at an Indian restaraunt and a big bottle of Bintang, the local brew. It was pretty good and only cost me ninety grand.

Incedently, when you order a "large" Bintang, you get a large (750mL!) Bintang. It's good too.

Oh, Jakarta is a nice place in the world, I think the cultural activities there are quite famous !!, I heard some of the names having great relavance with the Indian names, am I true. so which is the best food in your area? I think "fish dish" is famous there !!

there are lot of varities of biryani, I know it's a thick soup like in appearance.

Bintang is somewhat different.

Today I am introducing a new recipe that is aalu-paratha,(the potato made recipe), fine in taste along with lot of butter, it's veg-recipe and easy to make
take half pot wheat powder add some grinded potatoes add some masala+chilly+ginger+pepper powder+light sea salt and a few sugar mix the contents for five minutes in a thick form, then roll it on the palms and latter drop it on the open pan in the grill after 2 minutes change it's side and after two minutes draw it from the grill and pour with some other vegitable decoration on it and serve it in a big smart dish and then try it.

Indonesian people well known about sanskrit language??

that does sound good. And yes we are familiar with the Sanskrit Language.

Tonight is whatever I can find in the pantry. Leaving town Saturday morning and don't want any food to go bad.

I had vegetarian lasagna last night.
I had some ricotta with shredded basil and rucola that I needed to use up (was used to stuff pasta the day before). To make it go a little further, I alternated filling the plates with this and a lightly fried zucchini-onion mix. Sweet tomato sauce and parmesan in between, ovenbaked for 20 minutes - heavenly!

I haven't seen much Sanskrit on signage or whatever, but there are lots of Indians in Jakarta so I'm assuming it's not completely unknown.

I'm enjoying myself here. Back to dinner: tonight I had Mie Goereng at a local diner for the equivalent of €1 (12,000 Rp.) It was tasty.

crosscountry, if you would like to know about the Indian recipe then one can see the following video link.

http://is.rediff.com/searchresult.ph...ine&type=video (and hello I am not in the video,

we are not exactly cooking in our home as shown in the video, because person to person the cooking style is different.

we made today some sandwitches along with butter and some sos on it. (in a handy sandwitch maker).

Here in Atlanta, we have a place that specializes in great fresh pasta - Via Elisa. Great stuff, although not cheap.
Via Elisa

Last night's dinner was their porcini mushroom ravioli, with homemade (by me, that is) pesto. Fresh basil, garlic, pine nuts and olive oil, all mashed with a mortar & pestle.

Lousy photo:

Dunno, looks great to me. Helps that I've very, very hungry at the moment (T-minus 5 min 'til end of shift. Yay!)

I have some pesto at home (this time it's not home made; was too lazy), and pasta that's shaped like the Ohio State "O" logo, aswell as some mushrooms and chicken I can sauteé with some garlic and oil. After seeing your photo--I might be motivated enough to do it. Probably not though; tonight feels like a "lazy night".

Hah, I was actually thinking about that too. There's a relatively new (opened this spring?) place around here that's part of a chain. "Papa Joe's" or something. They sell uncooked pizza's that you just pop in the oven and bake. Not frozen--they're still made fresh.

Granted, pizza cooked w/o a pizza oven is never the same...but the quality of their dough, sauce, and toppings more than makes up for it. And it's still cheaper than buying one from Donatos or some place.
