Belgian beers are still great, too. Saison DuPont and the St Bernie offerings are among my faves.
Yes, that is indeed what I was trying to say.

The only country (IMHO) that makes better beer than the some regions of the US is Belgium.

If only they didn't such horrible light pollution, it's be heaven. Great beer and mussels and chocolate, oh my!

yea, I had a great time in Belguim. Mussels were great, and the waffles there are to die for.

I liked the variety of beers they had.

Two observations:
1) Man Cross, you sure know how to find the ladies.
2) You're all, as someone put it, beer snobs! There's few brands I won't drink (solong as I can stick to whichever I start with the whole night, not a fan of mixing beers). I'll drink Budweiser, but I don't generally buy it for myself. Y'all won't think any better of the "regular" beers I buy when I'm not in the mood to try something new (9 times out of 10 I am, and I'll buy something I've never had before). But if I don't feel like experimenting, I'll get Miller Lite or Labatt; my g/f only likes bud lite. Killian's is another favorite of mine.

I just tried Red Stripe for the first time, and was pretty happy with it. I like Newcastle. And I like Smithwick's. And Guiness Draught. ...oh hell, who am I kidding? If it's beer, I probably like it. Just some more than others.

we have similar tastes. Newcastle is a great beer, and I drink some Mexican beers more often than others. Negra Modelo is pretty good.

Bud light is bad IMO, but Budweiser is acceptable when the pool hall has only mass produced domestics.

And Fazor, Jessica traveled with me on a motorcycle over most of Western Europe. I was really happy to have someone traveling with me, and she made it even better.

Hah, funny this thread should come up. I'm enjoying a Budweiser right now.

...That being the real Czech Budweiser, brewed in the town of Budweis since the 1600s. It's about as similar to the American "Bud" as my boots are to a koala.

It also costs 70 cents for a half-litre bottle in the supermarket, same as most midrange German beers.

Best thing about Bud is their team of horses.

Hey Toe, its worse than that! Bud uses rice!

It's cheaper here in California than corn, seeings as how we produce 20% of the total US production. We have six counties that plant over half a million acres of it.

Ah, so she must be the same one I've read bits and pieces of in some of your other naratives.

The only "Mexican" beers I've had are Corona, and Dos Equis. I imagine actual mexican beer is better, just like actual european beer is better than the "Imports" which are only labeled as imports because the brewery is in Canada.

another one is Bohemia. Good flavor. I used to like Pacifico until I got back from Germany. Now I can't even drink it.

And that is her. We made it up to Denmark, Poland, and back through Germany to France and Spain. Flying from there it Ireland was next. She and I had taken other trips before to Belgium and around Germany in rented cars. Friends came along for those trips.

Now, now. Let's not bash the Canadian beer. Sure, we make some bad stuff (Molson, Labatt's), but we make some durn good stuff, too.

For example:

Creemore Spring's UrBock (and their other offerings - a lager and a pilsner)

St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout

St. Ambroise Vintage Ale, yet another barleywine.

I wasn't bashing Canadian beer, just the fact that beers like Killian's "Irish" Red are not imported from Ireland, as one would assume. Though Killian's Canadian Red just doesn't have the same ring to it, I suppose.

And I like Labatt's...not very fond of Molson though.

I would never pay $17 for a 6 pack of anything. I can get a 12 pack around here for $10

I've had the pleasure of drinking Thomas Hardy's Ale. Color like an autumn sunset. Quite impressive. That 11.5% alcohol content will sneak up on you, though!

We have taxes on alcohol in northerly parts of Europe which means that our alcohol is expensive in comparison to USA. Also the $ exchange rate doesn't flatter the situation. Ireland has one of the highest alcohol taxes. Also the "Spar" price label indicates that it was in a local convenience store where you expect to pay rather over the odds for things.

Iceland and Norway have the highest alcohol taxes in Europe. For serious shock therapy, check out the price of things in Iceland at Vinbud, the state alcohol monopoly.

A 470ml tin of American Budweiser is 194Kr. At 61Kr to the dollar, that's a little over $3. Actually, by the litre, that's cheaper than the Irish price.

Blasphomy! All of you! Mocking the king of beers like that...
I don't like the taste of most imported beer, my sister worked in a Microbrewery and didn't care for what they offered. The only beer I like, other than Bud is Rogue and someone bought it for me as a joke. I don't really care for beer that much, just once every few years I will get a craving.

Crosscountry if your current job fails, I suggest getting into mens modeling. As to the OP, is that 16.82 for the whole six pack? That equals about 2.81/beer which is actually cheaper than most local bars.

Good point! Now the introverts can experience happy-hour prices from the comfort of their own homes! What will they think of next?
