Default How much would you pay for a Budweiser?

I saw this in Ireland this August. It was a 6 pack 11.1 ounce bottles (330ml). It sold for 11.09 € ' or 16.82 US Dollars at current rate.

Would you pay $17 for a Budweiser?

That's the advantage of a tanking dollar, we can buy it cheaper over here

Uh, that is an advantage, right?

Hops and barley are up significantly, since some of those are imported, US beer could start seeing major price jumps.

I can't stand the stuff, so my answer to the question would be "not much, if anything" I'm afraid. Definately not that much.

Not a chance, because I like GOOD beer.

For example Shiner Bock, brewed right here in Shiner, Texas.

Hey CC,

I'll give you 17 dollars, heck 20, to NOT have to drink a Budweiser.

Almost any beer that's made with rice as the main ingrediant is not worth drinking as a recreational beverage. Why drink Bud, when you have Newcastle?

I just don't understand men like you.*

HEY, I did NOT buy the beer. It is just a photo I took while in a grocery store. Ireland has much better beer to drink

That and Budwieser is so famous for inducing "the winds" that in the Navy we referred to it as "Butt Geyser".

Bud? You'd have to pay me to drink it. For comparison, I had a Thomas Hardy tonight - it's aged 25 years.

I'm a bit of a beer snob.

Mr. Canuck sir, friend, buddy old pal.

What, pray tell, is a Thomas Hardy? Is this some form of "aged" oat soda of which I am hitherto unaware of?

If Budweiser were the only beer left on Earth I'd quit drinking beer. I have a Fat Tire Amber Ale sitting next to my keyboard right now.

Oops. It's empty. Back in a minute.

not at all. Whiskey has less sugar content and all microbes have been killed during the distillation process. So it doesn't go bad.

Beer on the other hand doesn't go through anywhere near the same treatment and goes bad quite quickly. Maybe you could homogenize it so much nothing else exists, but then it's pretty bad for that reason.

I've never tried it however and won't say anymore.

Micro brews saved beer in the US, just like the grourmet coffee places saved coffee from the mass produced cheapest possible product that was undrinkable.

Who else here likes Full Sail Amber Ale? I highly recomend it. My second favorite beer is Sam Adam's Black Lager.

Not only is it the only Sam Adam's that I've had that I liked, though admittedly I haven't had them all, I like it a a LOT.

Got that right!

Top fermentation is the way to go.

Re the Blandweiser, ditto, they'd have to pay me a considerable sum to drink it.

Don: Thomas Hardy's Ale by the fine folks at O'Hanlon's Brewing Company in Whimple, Devon, UK. It's an 11.5% ABV unpasteurized barleywine, aged 25 years. It will continue to mature if you can keep from drinking it. It has a very strong mead/molasses flavour to it. Simply wonderful. If you want more recommendations, I have a bunch.

crosscountry: You're only partially correct. Most mass-market and pasteurized beers will go bad in 3-6 months. Other beers (unpasteurized barleywines, vintage ales, etc.) will benefit from further bottle-conditioning. They should be kept in a cool, dark area for a period depending on the specific beer. Unpasteurized beers will change the most profoundly, since the yeast is still active. More info here.

I wouldn't pay a dollar for a liquid that smells like--and probably tastes like--urine.
