Thumbs up

Dawkins' review is very interesting indeed.

It is a good review. I especially like his explanation of how Mathis may have miscalculated the movie's and evening's impact:
Goals don't come more own than this.

Leave it to a Brit to work in a soccer reference!

I enjoyed his comments on Ben Stein, too. My first encounter with Stein was in Ferris Buehler, where he did a pretty good job of acting (I thought). Turns out, he was just being himself.

Having seen him in other things, including as an occassional commentator on CBS Sunday, he strikes me as pompous, arrogant, closeminded, and funny only because he isn't trying to be. It doesn't surprise me that he'd be up to a little duplicity.

As far as the movie being unabashedly religious, could this be an admission that the Dover decision has put the lie to the Little Green Men theory?

It's actually a small number of creationist that make the ID=science claim. The vast majority openly acknowledge, and even preach, that it's creationism of the god did it variety that they want taught. They also want prayer back in the public schools. During the Dover trial there was one crew inside arguing that ID=science and not derived from religious viewpoints while outside people chanted prayers and read bibles to aid them

Yoda is very real. I had him over last Wednesday for tea. Just a heads up for anyone looking to do likewise: He is very picky. "Bland it is. Steep longer, yet more sugar you must!" He also hogs the biscuits.

I was making a joke - as in, I do like tea, I just don't like it different.

It was an indirect Monty Python reference.

In case you didn't recognize it:

Brian: You're all individuals!
Crowd, in unison: We're all individuals!
Guy at the back: I'm not!

I prefer "inspired by Monty Python," but yes, that was where I got the idea.
