Default PZ Myers expelled from "Expelled"

Heh...if you have lots of time to waste...

It seems that Phil's arch-nemesis PZ Myers was asked to leave the theater of the premiere of the pro teaching ID in schools movie "Expelled: No Intellegence Allowed" (I think that's the title)

PZ Myers was in the film as an expert on Evolution

here's his blog entry (Also on Phil's blog)

http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2008/03/expelled.php

Hope this hasn't been brought up already

Pete

The really weird thing is that they let in PZ Myers' family and guests. The movie even thanked PZ for his participation.

Phil explains it all fairly well in his blog, and there are good links to the story.

Still, I can't help dropping the spoiler: After the film, the producer, Mark Matthis opened the floor to a Q&A. Imagine his surprise when PZ's guest, Richard Dawkins, stood up and asked why PZ had been barred at the door.

Last, I think discussion of the contents of the film itself should not take place here, for what should be obvious reasons. And it's worse than the obvious reasons. It's way too hot for a BAUT discussion. There is, however, a lively discussion happening on Phil's blog. Just follow the banner link.

The Pharyngula posts are priceless. (Links are available from Phil's main page and in the blog entry itself. No direct link. As I said, it's too hot for BAUT. Besides, I'm feeling old, cranky, and lazy right now from the arthritis and weather. Now get the heck off my snowdrifts.)

None of what I read about what happened surprises me. It's par for the course amongst that breed.

Poor guy. As BA's friends, we're PZ's rivals in peace, but when he's in trouble like this, we're allies all the way.

I have to agree with this strongly- from a less "chummy" standpoint.

We absolutely need to be supportive of eachother and to spread word every chance we get.

Speaking for myself, my email inbox is often loaded with pious messages, but never any science ones.

I think I'm going to start swamping creationist inboxes with evolutionist chain letters.

OK. You're going over my head here. Why are we PZ's rivals? I enjoy his web site, and this one.

Because PZ and Phil like to make noises as if they were intense rivals ever since they both got nominated for "Best Blog" a couple of years ago. It stirs up readership for each other. They're friends.

The BA and PZ have a friendly competition going, but they really get along very well.

I'm watching this whole "Expelled" thing with great interest. I wonder if the scientists they lied to and misquoted will band together, get on a reputable news show, and tell the world what a load of malarky that movie is.

Y'know, I'm glad that got explained.

Running through my mind was that "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" saying and I was trying to figure out whose side we were supposed to be on.

Default Ben Stein's Money...

I would really like to tell Ben Stein what he can do with his money. But it would earn me a time-out in the penalty box here!
