Ugh - not me. I'm too much into visceral experiences.

To never again know the scent of a woman, the touch of her skin...

No thanks!

Who said anything about lack of visceral experiences?

Everything sensation you have already occures inside your brain. It is all heavily processed interpretation of whatever nerve signals your sense organs send you. If what SkepticJ describes becomes possible at all, then simulating pretty much any real-life sensory experience should be a snap.

<Still shuddering>

Personally, I like my current interface with the world.

VR is all fine and dandy, but it would still be a simulation.

I forget the exact line, but remember a quote about true beauty being found not in the perfection, but in the flaw.

As flawed as our fleshy bodies may be, I'll take mine any day over a 'perfect' brain-machine interface.
