geeze I was only stating the obvious. And I didnt mean it as an insult. I actually believe that the smarter you are the more difficult it is to stay happy. I mean this universe is depressing on some level. The more you learn the more you understand how utter meaningless we as species, as a planet, as a solar system, as a galaxy are. The meaning of life is always staring you in the face, and the less likely the blind following of a all powerful being makes sense to you. Not to say smart people are unhappy but it takes a little more imagination.

I must admit i have a good friend who openly admits that he is at the lower end of the scale when it comes to intelligence, but he is the most content and happy person i know! Ignorance is bliss!!

I understand where you are coming from, but I see this totally differently.

Throughout our history, our course has been defined by Choice and Will.

Unlike our cohabitators of Earth, we lack physical strength, fangs, claws or other natural weapons that many have.
And yet, we defeat even the fiercest opponents.
Whether it be lions, tigers or bears... or other human; we define ourselves.
We have the ability to go far beyond what evolution brought us to.

We don't need the divine or a special place in the Universe. We have the ability to make our place special. The will to succeed, the drive to overcome obstacles and the intellect to progress.

We may not have started out special. But damnit we can finish special.
And to me, that is far more amazing than if we had been divinely created to be special.

I disagree. Your statement about religion has nothing to support it, other than your personal opinion.

It's a rather religious statement,

Calling an ugly person ugly is still an insult in polite society, no matter how true it may be. The same applies to calling people dumb.

You sound like a 'the glass is half empty' person also. I know better than most just how stuck on Earth we currently are, I know better than most just how small my 130kg is in the great scheme of things, and I know better than most all the myriad ways that a life can end, but I do not see this as either reason for sadness or proof of the lack of God. If all you can see in the meaning of life is that you contribute to the heat death of the universe, I feel sorry for you.

No you weren't! You were stating your opinion! If half the people are smarter than average, calling 80% of them dumb hardly "stating the obvious!
