More like the locals get swamped with the minutiae of it, and the non-locals get the "look what those idiots there are doing" and that's news enough. They would probably lose viewers if they explained it.

"they" is a single franchise owner from an opposing team's locale (DC) who did this on their own without the chain's involvment (supposedly) for thier own publicity.

I'd be touching my nose with my index finger here, but on a board, I can only say "bingo".

Any negative words about LJ around here is an automatic public stoning. After all, he is supposed to be the saviour of all Cleveland sports.

So; PJ Pizza, seeing how poorly the response of the rogue (DC) shirts was to thier Cleveland franchises felt they needed a big publicity coup.

Now; I wonder if the silliness has affected franchises in other markets.

So, a pizza place in Cleveland saw that a pizza place in Washington had done the shirts, and decided to respond by selling pizzas really cheap using LJ's jersey number as a show of support for LJ, and the customers have been swamping the place to buy the cheap pizzas and show their support for LJ? That's just weird... especially since it means that the description that the pizza place is "losing their shirt" over it would be a matter of making a dumb self-destructive decision rather than a matter of being victimized as that phrase usually implies.

Not quite... the national chain needed to reverse the bad publicity in the Cleveland market* due to some unauthorized DC publicity stunt appearing on a nationally broadcast game...

*And anyone else offended by offending somebody on national TV...which could be an entirely different discussion.

Cleveland must be obsessed with Pizza, and maybe Drew... or both.
Just a light little story, but it is front page news here.

Drew Carey makes a takeout order

So; maybe not cheap pizza, but affordable pizza. The problem is that delivery is gonna kill ya.
