Default Cheap Pizza

I'm surprised this isn't getting national press (at least none that I see).
A pizza shop in the DC area prints 6 T-Shirts calling Lebron James (#23) a Crybaby, and now the franchise is losing thier shirt over it. (well; maybe not since they are getting a lot of publicity)

The result is here in NEO (Northeast Ohio, if you've ever wondered where I got that from) we have pizzas for the mere price of 23 cents.

And posters here only get suspensions for ad-homs.

It's just amusing to me how much press coverage is coming of it. Here's a story with not only the up-to-the-minute updates of various stores, but also a link to live helicopter coverage of the lines at the pizza shops.

Here's a story with a bit of background...

What would you do for a cheap pizza?

It appears that the accusation of "crybaby" was accurate...

Updates (same as OP link...keeps getting updated)

It's getting ugly.
- Long lines (2000 people at one store)
- Bad traffic (one highway at a standstill because traffic backed up from a store
- supplies running thin
- tempers flaring
- already an arrest

The big worry at this point is that schools are letting out.

Viewer feedback on this station's story is unbelievably negative. I would say that the only situation is that not every store is consistant, and any mis-information is due to the interpretations of the viewers, and the reporters.

Things always seem to get ugly with free (or almost free) food.

I occasionally make my own pizza. It's much cheaper than from a pizza place, and is even cheaper than store-bought.

people in the USA aren't afraid to burn up $15 of gas that costs $3.50 per gallon to get a 23 cent pizza that normally costs $10..
and we wonder why the rest of the world hates us..

Actually, Mr. Harvey has not been doing his show for a while, his substitute has been Ron Chapman. His wife was terminally ill. She died Saturday.

I listen to him occassionally if I'm in the car around lunch time. Some of his stuff drives me nuts (he does often take great license in his stories) and some of it is fun to listen to. Love him or hate him, he is a cultural icon.

That other guy has been standing in for him for quite a while, at least part-time; but I've often heard shows that were mostly the stand-in, with a little PH added on. Anybody else notice that?

In unrelated blue-hair news - I heard Eddie Arnold died.

No, no, no. Separate thread for joining the choir invisible. This thread examines the implications of twenty-three cent pizza, how instantaneous communications can threaten a pizza empire, and how Cleavelanders will go out of their way to get their gold medals bronzed.

Not so far fetched. I know people that drive to a big outlet center in Sharon PA, 2 hours away to save money on clothes. "Look I got 50% off this $20 sweater".
There are plenty of outlet stores much closer, but "they don't have the selection".
If they would just admit that it costs them money to shop...

Pizza palooza promotion panic peroration...
Final results...
3 arrests. 75,000 pizzas, $23k raised for charity

The day's timeline here
A short recap here
Now, why would a primary school of the arts take a field trip to get a pizza? Sounds like a waste of resources to me.
Now; if they could show me that it was a sociology or psychology project, maybe then it would be a good idea.
A few silly comments here

Of course, they are probably going to only air the silly ones. I didn't here any media air the ones that said "I dunt have nuttin else doin."
One I heard on the radio.

Instead of arguing about why there's cheap pizza, why not go out and get cheap pizza?

I'm with you, Mak. If I'm going out to get pizza, it's going to be Pizza Hut's deep dish pan pizza with the toppings I like and ice-cold beer.

With friends.

Like Mugs, I make my own. The best store-bought near me is Papa Romano's (local chain) and Amici's (single storefront). Some of the frozen pizzas are adequate, if you get them on sale.

Who or what is a Lebron James? Different from an ordinary James?
