Are friends electric? At least one was...

My thoughts went to Richard too more than once in the past months...If anyone could get some information on him...

At least I can assure you all that "missing" member Fram is doing great.

May I add my applause to the mods.

And later on, when I'm not so busy (probably end of this month) I'd be interested in following up Swift's idea for a discussion about SF stories featuring remote socialising.

I wish I had some great words of wisdom, but I don't. I'll miss him and his posts.

Yeah, I really hope Richard has made it and is just taking a break.

And Fraser, that was very generous on your part. Very moving. Thank you.

It's shocking news about honored member: Maksutov. May god give the power to bare the grief to his family. I have no words to express.

the heading of the topic comes in reallity: When We Left Earth-Blooper Reel-Episode 1, by maksutov.

I do wish with all my heart that he now has world enough and time for his beloved Mahler.

Your welcome AGN fuel, and I never got banned for asking! I thought it was apt and fitting for "MAK". Thank you ToSeek for doing this for me and the rest of the BAUT members. I sent a begging message to the BA too, go easy on me BA please!

I didn't know Maksutov that well, certainly not as well as many people did but I'm sorry to hear of his passing, he had many things to impart both witty and serious, my thoughts are with his family at this time.

Godspeed Maksutov.

When reading "R.I.P." I, like others, for a moment thought of a permanent ban. But then the message of Mak's death did not surprise me so much, simply because his health had been in bad shape for quite some time. Nevertheless, it took me some time to really accept that this time it is final.

I think I read most from him in the CT section where he showed his talent to pop up well placed: a factual hint here, a pun there, an anecdote or a sudden nagging question. He could drop a single line and it would stand out as a Mak-line. A permanent fixture - yes, this describes my impression well. Intelligent, knowledgeable, witty. He could come across as rough sometimes, and his humour could be peculiar - this made him a visible human character.

You ultimately learn how much you value someone when you realize that he won't be around anymore. Never. No return ticket this time.

I will miss you, Mak. The gap you leave behind shows that you have typed yourself well into my memory. Thank you for the good time!

My farewell to a fellow lover of the stars, of words, and of music.
My condolences to his family and friends.

My apologies for breaking the rules, yet again. I wanted to send my regards to Maksutov, my friend.

Somehow, I know Maksutov is reading this and smiling.

Maksutov,

I haven't been in touch with you going on many moons now. Did I ever thank you for helping me learn software programming during my Bachelor's degree? If not, then a big hug and kisses! I'm greatful that you understood me and my "past issues". You never once faulted me for what I later learned to be Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. I'm all better now. Did you know that I went on to do my Masters? I just graduated 6/22/08. I bet you are very proud of me. You truly are a good person.

I will miss you, sweetie!

If there is a Memorial Fund set up to help the family then please let me know.

Thanks, jrkeller! I owe you one.

Candy

I vote to reinstate Candy, if only on a probationary basis She seems to have her "stuff" together again and, if so, it would make a fitting memorial to Maksutov!

I've only just read the news and I am deeply saddened. I only knew him through this board but felt a rapport when reading his posts. I will sincerely miss them and him. There were many LOL moments. Happy trails.
