I thought the BA was boycotting C2C because it was too psuedoscientific!

I'll be tuning in, though--as usual!!

He's been on about 20 times, most recently August 27, 2008, fighting the pseudoscience where it lives.

No 2am EST is too late for an old geezer like me to stay up.

Yeah- I finally cut it at about 3:30- uncertain as to whether it was over or not.

I slept about 4 hours.

Well, it's always nice to know I'm not the only one too old to stay up all night like I use to do just 4 short years ago.

I can wait to hear it.

There are no typographical errors in the above sentence.

I personally boycotted the caller segment. I knew there'd be too much pseudoscience promotion when the antiscientists got a voice. Sounds like I might have been right.

Lol, ah yes. I never got use to using the DST during this time of year. To me, it's always EST. Sorry

If you're not getting up at 2am... and again at 4am... and at 6am and this time staying up 'cause, well, why not?... I don't think you qualify as an "old geezer."

The fact that I'm 26 does kinda disqualify me from that adjective, but I find it annoys you'all old folk when young people say that they're old, which is why I said it. Hopefully, mission accomplished.

It is true that I can no longer stay up all night like I use to. I can make it strong 'til 2 or 3 if I'm lucky, but then it's crash time. Granted, I also don't have the luxury of sleeping 'til noon or later like I use to either.

But to Jim's point, we are past the point of "stay up" and into the part about "get up". Again, and again, and...ouch my toe.

(Grammatical digression: The correct spelling is "ya'll," pronounced as "yaul.")

Ah, I can remember 26...

There are four stages of adulthood: young, middle-aged, senior, and "Still alive, by God!"

I usually spell it "y'all", but that's just me. The above "You'all" ... well, I can only guess that was a result of too much coffee this morning, and no breakfast or lunch.

It should be "y'all," because the apostrophe is standing in for the "ou."

Well, back on topic (sorry, so scattered today didn't realize how badly I had de-railed this thread) ... is there anywhere that has the broadcasts recorded, or re-broadcasts them?

If you sign up for their "Streamlink", you can download all the past shows you want, as well as listen to the show live over the internet for $6.95 USD.

Phil Plait discussed his new book Death from the Skies!, which outlines various ways the human race could die from astronomical events. An asteroid or comet impact could wreak havoc on the planet. For instance, a one-mile-long object that hit the ocean could create a 1000 ft. high tsunami, moving at 500 mph. It could literally scour clean the coastlines, killing millions, he detailed. The B612 Foundation is working on ways to prevent asteroid impacts, such as by sending out probes that could alter asteroids' orbits, he reported.

Another dire situation he pondered involved the death of the universe. While theoretical, and billions of years in our future, the continued expansion of the universe could lead to "The Big Rip" in which matter is torn apart. More likely, our galaxy would just move further and further away from other galaxies until we could no longer see them, he said. Gamma Rays, a kind of "cosmic blowtorch" sent out by a certain type of super nova could potentially obliterate life, but Plait happily noted it didn't appear any candidate stars were currently close enough to Earth to zap us.

He also touched on a number of other potentially catastrophic but non-imminent consequences, such as a black hole eating our planet, damaging solar flares, an alien attack, and the collision of the Milky Way galaxy with neighboring Andromeda. Such a collision, which is due in about two billion years, could cause some stars to be flung far out into the galaxy.

I listened to a repeat last night. The local station repeats the first hour, right after C2C ends, then repeats the entire show 9pm - 1am Eastern, unless the start is delayed due to the station carrying a hockey game.

Unless you type too fast for your fingers to hit the right key in the right order.

Yes, y'all are correct.

Why shouldn't it be written as "you all", with the pronunciation done by whoever is reading/speaking it?

Contraction, isn't it? Or... is not it?

Edit: Maybe not, if Wikipedia is to be trusted. Is it, y'all?
