Paul, he's missed the last forty roll calls, tell him he now has some serious obligations, like... what was it we agreed to on Tuesday?

Kaptain K's brother Paul again. I just found this thread and wanted to reassure everybody that, while Kaptain K did have a scary several weeks with his health, he is out of danger now and rehabilitating (slowly, but he's making progress). I must say I'm gratified to see all of the concern for his well-being. It lets me know that he has a social circle of people who are engaged and who care about him. Thanks for that. Please forward this message or direct anyone who may be interested to either this thread or to the one in "Off-Topic Babbling" titled "Kaptain K's Situation." Thanks.
Paul

Default New laptop

I'm going to go shopping for a laptop for Kaptain K today; hopefully he'll have it by this evening (election day November 4th) and he can log on and let y'all know what he's been through the last two months. Of course, he doesn't remember a lot of it, but he can tell you that it hasn't been a smooth ride. He is getting better though, so keep your good wishes coming, and look for him to log on soon.
His brother Paul

Brother K, if you see this in time: I have an older laptop that I would be willing to donate to the Kaptain. It may not have much life left in it, but it should tide him over for a while. PM me if you want to take this any further.

I sent a PM; yes, the laptop would be appreciated. Otherwise i'd have to use Kaptain K's credit card to purchase and, while I'd be doing it with his permission it still would feel "funny." Also, with Kaptain's medical bills I'm not sure a computer is in his budget, but he'd be willing to make the purchase to keep in touch with you folks. Still, I'll speak for him and agree that yes, he would like the laptop, Donny. Thanks.

Wow, between that and Donnie B's great gift, I'm feeling all squishy inside.

Well, the downside is that it will take a few days to get there. I'll get cracking. Dang, do I have a box the right size to pack it in?

Ug, sorry to learn of Kaptain K's hospitalization. Very best wishes to you, Kaptain, and your posts are missed. [I've not been here as much as normal, too.]

It's easier to access a laptop while lying in a hospital bed; also, it's more portable and therefore more storable (meaning it can be secured where no one can steal it when not in use.) Kaptain K has a computer at home, so if that had been all there was to it I would have brought that one from his house to use at the hospital. Thanks again to DonnieB; you brought a tear to the Kaptain's eye, and when I tell him about Neverfly's offer I'm sure it'll put another lump in his throat (which he doesn't need, since he's having a little trouble swallowing without all the emotional boobytraps -- kidding. Not about the swallowing, about the emotional..... never mind. Trust me, he's very grateful). Paul
