In honour of this auspicous occasion I have chosen a signature, thanks to the wit of Swift (with gender modification).

HR Interviewer: So Ms. Ozzy, I see in your list of publications that you only have one patent.
Ozzy: Yes, but it was for creating the whole Universe.
HR: Uh huh. Have you done anything since then?
Ozzy: Uh, the whole Universe. I mean, that was a big invention.
HR: Of course it was. So I take it as, no. When you invent things, such as the Universe, do you work better in a team environment, or by yourself?

Congratulations! It took me eight years to get my B.Sc. (geophysics) so you're not that unusual doing it in ten. Sometimes it's better to take things a little more slowly.

Well done Ozzy!

I'm working towards my BSc through the Open University. That'll take me a few years.

You know, the more time I spend here on Baut, the more I'm interested in anthropological archeology. Or is it acheological anthropology?

Regardless, of particular interest is: "...understanding distribution and movement of ancient populations, development of human social organization, and relationships among contemporary populations..."

Maybe in the second half of my life...

Way to go Ozzy. Having just spent 10 years to achieve something significant you might appreciate this story.

Last week, my boss threw a resume' (called CV in some parts of the world) on my desk and asked me what I think. The candidate had a master's degree in electrical engineering and bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Impressive, I thought, so why is the guy presently working a mundane job? I decided to look back at which university he got his degrees from.

Considering I am presently involved with my daughter sending out university applications and tons of university literature we have recieved over the past year I was curious about this applicant's university. I never heard of it. Well one minute on the internet answered all of my questions: Rochville University It was then I realized he got both degrees in the same year! Needless to say, he did not get a new job that day.

Congratulations to you.

Thanks everyone for the warm responses.

Plans?

I am talking to a major developer/distributor about a series "Archaeology in Australia"

I am producing a plainspeak version of my recent report "Chinese Archeology in far north Eastern NSW 1840-1940".

Trying to get funding to produce a brochure to convince private landholders to report Aboriginal sites on their land (based on previous research and presentation.

Trying to get my foot in the door for some cultural heritage assessment work.

Thinking about doing part time honours, and seeing if i can start a dig at a Chinese mining settlement identfied during my study.

and ... woke up at 4 am on Wednesday night with the notion to write a history/fiction about Chinese immigrants during the late 1800's - early 1900's.

Looks like I'm becoming the local expert on modern Chinese archaeology in the region where I live. I'm also very interested in pre-European Chinese contact in Oz.

I think my real niche will be archeological communication. Its why I started the degee in the first place.

It does happen, but only in very exceptional circumstances.
Case Institute of Technology (where the Michelson-Morley experiment was done) gave Donald Knuth his MSc at the same time as his BSc and told him to start PhD'ing immediately rather than waste time on getting a degree he was already qualified for, but it's fairly obvious that wasn't what happened with the guy you looked at.

An old boy who worked trawlers off Maroochydore (Queensland coast just north of Brisbane), told me about chinese pots and large brass or bronze hinges that came up in the dredge nets. I'll be checking out a pot soon, but I cant find the hinges (last seen in Alstonville).

There is speculation that a ship from Admiral Zheng's fleet could have sailed down part of the Australian east coast around 1421. No hard evidence ... yet.

Zeng He is one of the historical figures I am most interested in. He had trouble with SALFs back in the 1400s!

SALFS?

There are some interesting Chinese reports on the "Land of Parrots", where the leaves fall off the trees in the summer time (eucalypts?).
