Bingo. There is no doubt at all that there's something non-average going on with my family member. Something that requires attention. And it most certainly fits the description. But why? Because it fits it enough? Is it really wrong brain wiring, or just sufficiently different brain wiring to warrant attention? I think it's no coincidence that when people speak about autism, they speak about symptoms within the autism spectrum, rather than autism as a well defined condition.

But we were speaking of silly ATM posters. Sorry for getting the thread off topic.

That depends upon whether it's a humorous point, or an youmorous point; the latter as some pronounce it.

I think it's just further proof that the vast majority of humans is pretty dumb. I deal with dumb people every day. Dumb people running companies, dumb people writing their dissertations, dumb people in high level positions, dumb, dumb, dumb.

Many ATMers accumulate tons if individual, unrelated tidbits of fact and fiction - data bits - but utterly lack the conceptual capabilities to understand them. The difficult, differentiated and objective answers elude them. They go for the easy, flashy, totally subjective, often enough faith like explanations which don't require any amount of research, knowledge, self-criticism, objective analysis, or confirmation.

I find stupid people very difficult to cope with and prefer to avoid them as much as possible. Seeing that they compound the vast majority of society, this is no minor task.

Presently neither "a" nor "an" exist in 'President's English.' It's more of an "uh" for all cases.

kleindoofy, this entire post is quite an ad hom attack on multiple people.
Realistically... on everyone.

Because dumbness does not have to specifically relate to an intelligence quotient, but rather, how willing a person is to put forth the effort and use an intelligence quotient.
Which our default nature is to not use it.

I agree with everything you just said. People choose to be dumb. It's the easy route.
The path of least resistance.

It takes effort to figure things out, especially when the result of figuring it out conflicts with a selfish want.

So it is extremely frustrating to deal with a person that chooses to ignore making that effort and instead, chooses to be "dumb." Whether out of selfish self interest or laziness.

In other words... Your ad hom is not an ad hom. It's a direct confrontation of the facts. I just kinda wanted to make sure it was clear to other readers

Oh, yeah, presidential "uh"s will go away in January. Right.
