Man Robs Convenience Stores With Klingon Sword

Quote:
Both clerks described the weapon as a Star Trek Klingon type sword, called a "Batleth."
I wonder if it would be hard to find a trekkie that isn't dressed as a trekkie.

My question is, what are the chances that both convenience store clerks would be familiar with a "Klingon Sword". ...Oh, yeah. Pretty good.

(Sorry, gotta take my shots at the Trekkies when I can)

The funny thing is that the only things stolen were a jug of bloodwine, some gagh, and three bottles of prune juice.

From a convenience store? Everyone knows gagh is only good when it's fresh.

Oh good grief.

P.S.: Part of his punishment should be listening to a recording for hours each day of Shatner saying, "Get a life!"

My question would be: "What are the chances of a convience store clerk, (or for that matter, tow druck driver, furniture mover or payphone reciever sterilizer) not knowing what a bat'leth was?

(Me too!)

I can just visualize the trekkie being sworn in during testimony at his trial:

"Raise your right hand and repeat after me. Uhh, please put your fingers together, no space between the third and fourth finger, please ..."

Did he not have any other weapons at home or did he purposefully choose to use the sword?

Being the alpha-geek that he is, the BA has picked up the story in his blog.

After looking at the picture my response was that it was a really small bat'leth.
Like using a Bowie knife but calling it a long sword.

If a prune is already dried, what are they squeezing out of it?

I was saw a show of JAG where the interviewed a terrorists while talking about Star Trek. The thing is it is there a lot of fans of the show.

Now getting back to thread.

Klingon 1 "I came lightyears and they do not have Gagh."
Klingon 2 "But they do have prune juice."

Eh, more like comparing a gladius to a long sword, really. Small, concealable under a hoodie, still a nasty little alien pigsticker.

Yeah, that was a fun Bud episode. For those who care about the show but didn't see that one, Bud realized this "detainee" was a Trek fan, and finessed him to talk by challenging him on the IDIC principle. It was in the season immediately prior to the minefield incident.

Believe it or not, prunes are rehydrated before being pulped (not just squeezed) to make prune juice.

The clerks got it wrong. And the reporter repeated their error as fact without correction. That thing is clearly not a batleth. I don't know what it is, but it's not that. It's like something you'd find under the category "fantasy knives" from The Edge Company or Bud K.

If that's a miniature bat'leth replica (and I agree with Delvo, the lines aren't right), he's holding it backwards with the sharp bit in his palm.
