The clerks got it wrong. And the reporter repeated their error as fact without correction. That thing is clearly not a batleth. I don't know what it is, but it's not that. It's like something you'd find under the category "fantasy knives" from The Edge Company or Bud K.

If that's a miniature bat'leth replica (and I agree with Delvo, the lines aren't right), he's holding it backwards with the sharp bit in his palm.
