Default close up images of eyes

This page contains close up images of eyes, particularly insect eyes.

I love insects. They're such superb little biological machines. Like tiny gundams

Spectacular pics! Some insects are really quite handsome.

It is interesting that bees, for instance, can see UV light whereas we cannot. It seems their eyes have evolved to see more of the EM spectrum in comparison to the eyes of mammals since we both left the sea (where animal eyes emerged).

Many plant petals that to our eyes look monochrome are actually vividly patterned to bees.

I find insects repulsive [except for bees, which I even get to like]. Especially mosquitos, flies and roaches. If I had my way they´d be all exterminated.

I wonder why that is. As Henrik pointed out, some flowers advertise in UV, but I'm pretty sure the flowers evolved to match the bees, and not the other way around. So, it seems like there must be some other advantage to UV vision.

The patterns on my eye look sort of like an island when I look at them in the mirror. The splashy-looking part of the colored bit is a green that looks like plant growth, and surrounding it is a gray color that looks like ocean.
