Okay, on the evening of June 29th, I am leaving to take my kids to St Louis. No offense to anyone on the route between the Pan Handle and Mo, but I would not be willing to meet strangers from the net, with my children present. June 30th I will arrive in St Charles and from there a friend and I will be heading to west Mo. July 2nd we will be heading from Western Mo to Northern Ill. for a few days. I am thinking the 5th or the 6th we will be heading south, taking a pass through Ohio to pay a quick visit with my sister, in Mason. Afterwards, we begin the trek from Ohio to Fl. Anyone along that route is welcome to join us as we stop for a meal.

Go West, young geek!

Seriously, I was tracing the route to see if you'd head further west than MO, but alas...

If you ever make it to Colorado Springs, please drop me a line.

Same goes for anyone here.

If you don't mind waiting about 9 more years, I will be out that way. Once I kick...I mean once the youngest goes off to college, I am getting a miniwinnie and hitting the road. Colorado is definitely on my list of places to see.
Like-wise, if you ever find your self hitting the sunny state, that goes for anyone, give me a heads up.

My boss' sister lives in Col. Springs, and thus she sometimes visits out there. That's "anyone" by proxy.

Touche'!

About a week ago I came across Meetup.com, and have been getting together with locals every day for one event or another. Tomorrow I have a photography session in the morning, and an evening hike.

Make sure you go to the Udvar-Hazy Center of the Air and Space museum. It's near Dulles.

Odd to reply to this after 2 months .
I'm back home now.
I had a good time there.
I even had a chance to go to Nashville to visit a friend , and then we went to Memphis to see Elvis Musuem.

'twas a nice trip . I'm looking forward to go back there again .

I realized now after been living in the City my whole life , that I want to live in a Country , it's so peaceful .

I can't afford it, I'm afraid. But the Washington State Renaissance Fantasy Faire (http://www.washingtonrenfaire.com/, and could someone else comment to them that the embedded video is a pain?) is this weekend and the next two. Vexingly, they keep pushing how long it's going to be in the 90s back in the forecast, so jousting is not a guarantee for this weekend. Still, maybe it'll be cooler the second and/or third weekend.

Robinson and I got together for dinner on Saturday. I may try to arrange another event with more notice and see if we can get a few locals together.

I expect we'll be doing it again as our Aussie moderator is planning a visit in the near future. I'll keep you posted.

I'm a bit far away and I have other plans. It could make for a fun weekend if I didn't have other commitments. Maybe next time.

I will be landing in Islip airport on the afternoon of Sept 18th. I have a doctors appt in West Hempstead Friday afternoon but my main goal is to have dinner at El Mariachi's in Coram. Saturday, we will be spending the day in Manhattan. We are leaving Sunday evening and don't have a plan for Sunday, the only thing I can guarantee is that I will be eating...a lot! If any Bauters are in or around that area and care to meet up, that would be super!

I backpacked half way up Pikes Peak yesterday, overnighted with some friends, and returned today.

Next weekend: Mt. Belford - a 14-er!

I'm sure your mountaineering endeavors are impressive, mugs, but were you hoping to meet any BAUTers on Mt Belford?

If anybody here is visiting the Frankfurt Book Fair (Frankfurter Buchmesse) next week (14-19 Oct.), I'm one of the exhibiting publishers, so feel free to drop by my stand and say hello (exact information by PM).

I think I'll be having a birthday dinner in Huntsville AL (US)!

If there's anyone in Huntsville on 23 October who doesn't mind jumping into a group of generous strangers for a night (and can make it), you're most welcome to come; we'd love to have you! (I can't buy your meal, though.) If all goes according to plan, it will likely be at Spice of India. PM for details.
