Gillian's a she. Not to be confused with Gilligan, who is in fact a he. Though I don't think they have an internet connection there on the isle.

Oh, Flash web pages are another trend that I find annoying. Food places and car manufacturers are the worst. My g/f sometimes stops and picks up food on her way home. If I'm not familiar with the place, I'll go online to view their menu. It's hard to find a food website for any even semi-major chain that doesn't require you to load a huge, animated, flash page, then sit through a few minutes of idiocy just to get to their menu (if you're lucky enough to find the link).

At work, I occasionally have to go to a car manufacturer's page to get information on, well, cars. They all also have large, animated websites. I don't need to see your line up in simulated "3d", I just need some information dang'it.

How much you want to bet when they get around (inevitably, the way things are going) to re-making Gilligan's Island, the Professor makes an internet connection out of coconuts?

Mary Anne happened to bring a can of Pringles with her on the boat tour.

It was meant to be humorous, just like the video I linked! One click, and the history of lolcats would have been explained

That doesn't mean that it was a nice thing to post. Gillian had a valid point in that post, and it wasn't worth dismissing like you did.

This entire thread reeks of "get off my lawn" so the fact that an innocent attempt at having fun with it is considered a personal attack should not be surprising.

Dang kids, always coming up with new stuff. No respect for their elders. Why, I remember when you had to wait days for a video to download. Now they watch videos like it's nothing.

Purposely writing "teh" instead of "the". It drives me crazy.

Nah - would have been too Swiss Family Robinson. I liked the technology they threw in there.

If the Professor does tap into the Internet via high-speed coconut, he'll undoubtedly encounter chat rooms full of kids who'll disbelieve them, then flame them for being so stupid as to find themselves marooned on a desert isle...

so you are saying that the Professor and the rest of the SS Minnow crew would be considered an EPIC FAIL!! in the internet chat rooms?
but i'm sure there would be a lot of people asking for webcam pics of Ginger and Mary Ann- and maybe even a crowd that would want pics of Gilligan and the Skipper wearing their sailor hats..

Considering that there were only seven of them on the island, it would interesting to see how a contemporary version would come up with a politically correct demographic spread.

Seven token whatevers?

They had a spread in the original, but it was painted very white. Rich, famous, country, intellectual, working class.

So, put a little ethniticity and sexual preference in there and you got a hit show!

Seven means you could have somebody from every continent. (Well, the Professor could have lived in Antarctica for a long time, that would count.)

It may not be intentional. I have done it a few time just by typing faster than my reflexes can handle it, and getting my hands crossed in the process. I have even mangled my name the same way.

What is happening here is that the computer lulls us into regressing to sloppy typing habits by dumping such easy error correction into our laps. When I have to fall back on a typewriter for something, I concentrate like crazy, slow down a bit, and type fairly accurately.

That's how it started (I assume), but many people who use "l33tspeak" (an annoyance in and of itself) intentionally use 'teh' or 't3h'.

Like all great hypocrites, as annoying as I find 'l33tspeak', I do occasionally use it. Woot / w00t is just too fun to ignore, for instance.

Attempts to try and get a special post number. I just watched a feeding frenzy in an attempt to get the 147,000,000 post. You would think after the first 100 million post, it would get old.

But noooooo, people are already planning on getting post 148,000,000.

Robinson, I can't read your signature. I don't know if it's a trend, but it annoys me - makes me think you're plotting something. If you are, then all the better; if not, then you've make me look like a fool for the last time!! (probably not the last time..)
