Default Really cheap homemade "Smartboard"

If you're familiar with smartboards, they are useful but very expensive, especially if you're in education like me.

I saw a really neat demo about a cheap, homemade version that some people here might really enjoy.

Basically all you need is a Wii controller and a $40 piece of software that someone has written, and an infrared pen light.

The Wii controller is stationary and points at chart paper attached to the wall. The controller picks up the infrared signal as you touch the screen and basically works like a mouse on a touchscreen. The software translates to the computer I think and allows you to do lots of stuff.

I haven't used it myself, but it looks really neat. Also, since I've heard of it, it's probably really old by now and I'm the last to find out

I don't have any other info at the moment but if anyone wants more info, let me know and I'll try to find out more on Monday

There is also a website (which I haven't seen) called Wii teachers or something (try google)

Just thought I'd share

Pete

Thanks Pete, I hadn't seen this.

This is a link to a video that shows the use:

And this is a link to the video Johnny Lee was talking about:

I betcha you could find some freeware that does the same thing as the $40 software, since the Wii controller is really popular with third party mods.

http://johnnylee.net/projects/wii/

I think it's the controller that's $40, the software is free.
