Default "Lord of the Rings"-Forum?

With all the Mars stuff, we've got the "Martian Chronicles" forum.
Now, as Cassini is soon on its downhill run to Saturn and surely will start to dominate many discussions (it already begins), how about a "Lord of the Rings" forum for anything Saturnian?

We don't need a forum for every planet. Mars just had more publicity what with the opposition, and three spacecraft attempting to land on it at this time and with the talk of a manned expedition.

Great as Saturn and Cassini are I just don't see them being as big newsmakers as Mars is. We'll get great pictures and nice data but I doubt they will capture public interest nearly as much.
Perhaps we could have a "Current Missions" forum instead? Because the rovers are going to wind down in a few months anyway...

I think Mars has special importance because of its significance for humans. That's why I think MC is useful. We've been proposing a general spaceflight forum for a while and I believe BA will consider how to add one once the new upgrade comes out.

Although I originally voted "yes", with this suggestion I've kind of changed my mind. A "Current Missions" could be much easier (from an administration point of view) than creating a new forum each time a mission approaches its target, certainly! And would accomodate our needs/wishes to discuss whatever the current one is without resorting to GA. I think it'd be a great idea. But shouldn't replace "Martian Chronicles" for Mars-talk.

I belive its up to the BA. I guess it depends on how many posts there are when Cassini arrives. As was mentioned earlier, we don't need a forum for each planet. Otherwise, we'd wind up with 7 more, provided Earth doesn't get a forum. Then there'd have to be a forum for the sun, the comets, asteroids, the Kupier objects, ect. Imagine if a forum existed for every moon of the solar system! 60+ alone for Jupiter!
I can't imagine if a forum existed for Uranus. We know were that one could wind up going....

I was wondering why someone wanted a forum devoted to Tolkien....

I don't see the need for a Saturn-specific forum. As someone else pointed out, there are five spacecraft exploring Mars right now in addition to whatever Earth-based researches there might be. I still vote for divvying up General Astronomy into:

Theoretical and Professional Astronomy
Amateur Astronomy/Personal Observing
Space Exploration, Spacecraft, and NASA

The Cassini mission would be a major source of discussion in the latter forum.

If we have a Lord of the rings forum then franchises like Star Wars, Star Trek, Babylon 5 etc also a deserve a forum. Hence I am against the idea of a LOTR forum.

I voted for the BA's choice. After all, that really is our only option.
Personally though, I find the photos from Cassini to be much more compelling than those from the Mars mission. Something about those rings against the background of space just takes my breath away.

We might have had more interest in Saturn if the plans for a Manned Mission to Saturn hadn’t fizzled. The lack of suitable candidates is probably due to the physical requirements for the colonists, although they have been holding tryouts for years. (The World’s Strongest Man Contests) And then, of course, gravity insurance is so high these days………….
