Yes, it is most certainly fake. I can't give an calculated estimate of what WOULD be required to make it work but I can give this example. The Apollo crews left retroreflectors on the moon. This is a bank of maybe 16 corner cubes in an array. To measure the distance to the moon, we aim a powerful laser backwards into a telescope and beam it to the moon. After 5 seconds some of the light returns and is picked up by a sensor. I believe I read somewhere that something like 50 photons makes it back.
To think that we could aim a laser at the moon, and have it reflect off of jet black regolith and then be visible to the human eye is a bit of a stretch. I would hazard a wild guess that it would require all of the electricity produced on earth to make a spot on the moon that is visible to the human eye.

Thanks Bill, I appreciate it - so considering fifty made it back, how many did we start by shooting up? Are we talking thousands/millions/hundreds of millions/billions? Just saw this and was pretty much thinking "no way" but couldn't really find anywhere online to verify/debunk it.

Georges, since you're sticking around, I'm less inclined to think you were only here to hype the site. I'm sorry that I suspected you had a promoter's agenda. Welcome to the BAUT Forum.

Coke thought about doing it on the link below, but the FAA stopped it.
http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/departme..._id=1003556617 And there are about 300 million billion photons fired at the moon per pulse with about your 50 being returned, from this site below; http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...17/MN81755.DTL Billslug, you might have seen that on Brian Cox's Horizon programme 'what on Earth is wrong with Gravity?' on BBC last week or so.

No, it was certainly not the Beeb. Here in south Georgia, US we only get two TV stations over the air. If I add a coat hanger to the antenna I can get Tallahassee. I don't think there are enough coat hangers in the world to get the BBC!
