Default Suborbital Flights

I'm just wondering, is it possible for the space tourism companies like Virgin Galactic and SpaceX to also function as suborbital flights? It seems to me like they could sell more seats if they also functioned as a rapid-transport system.. I can see a lot of rich folks who wouldn't be particularly interested in the space flight per se, but would be willing to pay top dollar for 30 minute flights to other continents.

Clearly they could, and though I've never asked anyone, I suspect that the people financing those ventures have that in mind as well.
