Even so I still would like to see additional monitoring of gases from below the ground. Perhaps there is more CO2 than even GW adherants believe and it takes more for a certain effect. What with the recent findings of Ulysses

Asteroid paths are simple compared to climate modeling. I can't help but feel there is something very important missing....

Hi Ronald. I was just skimming this thread, not intending to post. By coincidence, your question was addressed in the August 11-17 issue of New Scientist in an article on p14 entitled "Sun takes some climate blame, but most is ours"

From the article: "Planet-wide heating and cooling of the atmosphere during the 11-year sunspot cycle has been measured for the first time."

The claim was made by a group led by someone named Ka-Kit Tung, who also has a web site.

Later the article claims that Tung has also directly measured a parameter called "climate sensitivity", a quantity that in the past had been inferred from climate models but never measued directly.

I still want for monitoring for any Earth Gas release. I was watching a program some years back (NOVA I think) about how the vulcanologists ignored some of the seismologists new data, resulting in the Galeras tragedy.

When I was growing up, I thought scientists were these wonderful people who loved to learn about one-anothers disciplines, and who loved to share data--that these noble (nobel) people would never be parochial, fight over credit, withhold findings, keep secrets...

With over specialization, people learn more and more about less and less.

Being a generalist doesn't pay the bills.
