Not surprising really, as for the same species to arise through some multi-regional mutations seems highly unlikely. With a knowledge of how evolution proceeds, it just didn't seem right.

This leaves an interesting concept of homo sapiens being the last hominid on the planet, after all the other species of hominid have become extinct. Ethnic cleansing perhaps?
